Flamengo fans are excited about the work Filipe Luís has done leading the team. An idol on the field, the former full-back quickly earned respect as a coach, accumulating titles and demonstrating consistent performance since taking over the team. Since the beginning of his career as Mengão coach, Filipe Luís has already lifted three important trophies : Copa do Brasil, Taça Guanabara and Campeonato Carioca. In addition, his only defeat came last season, against Fluminense, which reinforces the solidity of his work.
NEW ERA MAKES FANS FORGET JORGE JESUS
With Flamengo in good form under Filipe Luís, the Red-Black Nation seems to have left behind the nostalgia of the Jorge Jesus era. The Portuguese coach was responsible for a victorious period between 2019 and 2020, but his unexpected departure left a mark of frustration among fans. Since then, speculation about a possible return of JJ has surfaced at different times, but it never came to fruition. Now, with Filipe Luís, the scenario has changed. The board and fans see him as a name capable of leading the team to new achievements and maintaining stability at the club.
BRAZILIAN NATIONAL TEAM KEEPING AN EYE ON FILIPE LUÍS
In recent days, Filipe Luís' name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Dorival Júnior in the Brazilian National Team . The coach of the Canarinho is going through an unstable moment, and his departure has been debated both on social media and behind the scenes at the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Given this scenario, the possibility of an attempt by the CBF has worried part of the Flamengo fans, who fear losing the coach in the middle of the season. Speculation grew quickly, leading the board of directors of the Mais Querido to evaluate the situation and take a position on the matter.
According to Romario Junior of Bola Vip, despite the rumors, the CRF board believes that Filipe Luís will not accept an invitation to coach the Brazilian National Team at this time. The internal understanding is that the coach is fully focused on the red-black project and intends to continue the work he has been developing. This conviction brings relief to the fans, who want the coach to stay and see in him the potential to consolidate a new victorious era.
Confidence in Filipe Luís's work is high, and expectations are that he will continue to lead the team for a long time. With the backing of the board and the support of the fans, Flamengo continues its trajectory under the command of the idol, who, now as coach, seeks to expand his history at the club and win even more titles.

The club expects to maintain defensive consistency even without its regular starter . The Argentine coach has emphasized in previous interviews the importance of maintaining tactical discipline to balance the match against Flamengo at Maracanã.
In attack, 27-year-old Colombian Edwuin Cetré is also out of the match in Rio de Janeiro. The forward suffered a grade 1 muscle injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg . He is expected to be available for the return leg on September 25th.

This Thursday (18), Flamengo begins the dispute of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores against Estudiantes, at Maracanã. On the eve of the confrontation, the president and idol of the Argentine club, Juan Sebastián Verón, spoke about the expectations for the duel against Rubro-Negro.
During an institutional event in La Plata, Verón highlighted the financial difference between the teams , with Mengão being the team with the highest market value among the tournament participants, but recalled Estudiantes ' tradition of overcoming opponents considered favorites.
Estudiantes' Verón on Flamengo in the Libertadores: "Yes, the challenge is difficult"
"Obviously, we know the power of our opponent, but we also know that we've been through similar situations against important teams, and that the club, given its history, has risen to the occasion. We've always kept this in mind: yes, the challenge is difficult, but we can excel and represent the club well , regardless of the result. We've experienced this before, and we continue to do so," the director stated.
In the early 1990s, Verón began his career at Estudiantes and played in the 2-0 victory over Flamengo in the 1994 Supercopa Libertadores . In addition to his former club, the former midfielder also shone for major teams such as Boca Juniors, Lazio, Manchester United and Inter Milan . In 2007, he returned to Estudiantes and was a key player in their 2009 Copa Libertadores victory.
Verón retired in 2014, but returned to the field three years later as a player-president . His last official match came in 2017, against Botafogo, also in the Copa Libertadores, during the group stage.
