Flamengo sets the week's agenda with a focus on the Libertadores and the derby against Vasco

After approving the accounts for the 2024 fiscal year, Flamengo also defined the budget for the 2025 season this week . The new financial plan was voted on and approved by the Board of Directors last Monday (15) and will soon be published on the club's official website . The information is from the 'GE' portal.
The budget overhaul was one of the first actions taken by the new management led by Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, who took over the club at the beginning of this year. The new document replaces the plan left by the previous board and brings a series of important adjustments and updates.
Among the main highlights is the forecast of total revenue of R$1.33 billion - an increase of 9.2% compared to 2024. Despite this, the value is still below the historical record of R$1.37 billion , registered in 2023. For the end of the year, the club projects a positive balance of R$106.9 million in cash flow .
The expectation for revenue from player sales has also increased. The new forecast is 35 million euros ( R$232.8 million ), compared to the 30 million euros ( R$199.6 million ) previously stipulated. This estimate takes into account movements in the second transfer window, since the first one has ended. Wesley , who is on the rise in the market, could reach a good part of this target. In addition to him, midfielder Alcaraz , on loan to Everton , could yield up to R$130 million for Flamengo, if the target clauses in the mandatory purchase contract are met.
In the sports field, the board maintained a conservative projection, similar to that of recent years, predicting: semi-final in the Copa do Brasil , semi-final in the Libertadores , Brazilian runner-up and participation in the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup .
Regarding the international tournament that will be held in the United States between June and July, the club estimates that it will raise at least R$115 million . However, this amount has not yet been accounted for in the 2025 budget, as it is only expected to be received at the end of the year.
The current board of directors has also decided to increase the resources allocated to signing players. The previously estimated amount was 20 million euros (around R$133 million), but it was increased to 2.5 million euros (R$166.3 million). So far, Flamengo has already invested 7 million euros (R$43.5 million) in signing striker Juninho , in addition to having signed Danilo, whose signing bonus amount has not yet been disclosed. Another reinforcement close to being made official is Jorginho , from Arsenal .

Flamengo opened the scoring against Juventude this Sunday (14), at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, in Caxias do Sul, for the Brazilian Championship. Despite controlling possession, the team had not yet created clear chances until a play on the left changed the course of the first half.

After defeating Juventude in the Brazilian Championship , Flamengo will have a busy week with matches in the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão. Flamengo faces Estudiantes in the quarterfinals of the CONMEBOL Libertadores . The first leg will be held at the Maracanã on September 18th at 9:30 pm (Brasília time).
This will be the ninth official meeting between the teams. In the previous eight, Mengão won three, drew four, and suffered only one defeat against the Argentines. The semifinals will be determined in the second leg in Argentina.
After the Libertadores, Flamengo returns to the Brasileirão and faces Vasco at Maracanã on September 21st at 5:30 pm, in the 24th round . This will be the fifth meeting between the rivals in 2025. In the Carioca, Flamengo won all three games, and in the first round of the national championship, the derby ended goalless.
Flamengo has released its professional football schedule for the week of September 15-21. After beating Juventude and ending a 28-year away drought, the team now focuses on crucial matches in the CONMEBOL Libertadores and Brazilian Championship.
Training will take place at CT George Helal on four dates : Tuesday (16/09), at 9:30 am; Wednesday (17/09), at 3:30 pm; Friday (19/09), at 3:30 pm; and Saturday (20/09), at 9:30 am. There are no activities scheduled for Monday (15/09).

The final stretch of preparation for the World Cup is approaching. With the qualifiers over , the Brazilian national team will now focus solely on friendlies until the final squad is named . Some certainties are already beginning to take shape in Carlo Ancelotti's mind, as he has secured key players for the World Cup.

In an interview with ESPN, the Italian coach didn't hesitate when talking about the Real Madrid duo: "A guaranteed spot? If he's healthy, yes ( Vini will go to the World Cup).
