The Flamengo took a significant step forward in negotiations with Southampton over the signing of Carlos Alcaraz. Since the beginning of negotiations, the English club has established a request of 25 million euros (around R$150 million) for the player, a value considered high by the Rio club. Rubro-Negro, however, held firm to its initial offer of 18 million euros (R$108 million), and, after intense conversations, received positive feedback, indicating that an agreement could be close.

Despite accepting the financial proposal, Southampton expressed the desire to include a player in the negotiation to facilitate the outcome. Specifically, the English club showed interest in two Flamengo athletes: defender Iago and midfielder Victor Hugo. In view of this, Flamengo's board, together with the player and his representatives, decided that Victor Hugo would be the name to be involved in the transaction. FLAMENGO IS TAKING BIG STEPS < /p>

Victor Hugo< /a>, who had already shown interest in playing in the Premier League, sees the possible transfer as a great opportunity to advance his career. The young midfielder, considered one of the promises of Flamengo's youth teams, has a playing style that attracts the attention of European clubs, and Southampton believe he can adapt well to English football.

A The decision to give up Victor Hugo, however, was not taken lightly. Flamengo believes that, despite the loss of a promising player, the arrival of Carlos Alcaraz will add quality to the squad and meet the team's specific needs. Alcaraz, who stood out last season, is seen as a reinforcement who can bring immediate results, raising the team's level in national and international competitions.

Flamengo's electoral process officially began on August 31, when the club's Board of Directors published the list of voters eligible to vote in this year's election. On the 10th, the deadline for registration of tickets opened, which runs until September 30th. However, to date, eight days after the beginning of the registration period, not one of the six announced pre-candidacies has been officially registered.

First of all, to register the ticket, the candidate must present a complete composition, totaling 156 names, all competitors. In addition, the list must contain the positions of president, general vice-president, president and vice-president of the General Assembly, 80 members of the Transitional Body of the Deliberative Council (CoDe), in addition to 72 members of the Board of Directors (CoAd).

Members running for the Deliberative and Administrative Councils must sign an authorization form to have their names included on the list. This requirement was approved at a CoDe meeting on May 8, 2023, along with other changes to the electoral process.

In summary, one of the main challenges faced by the slates is the composition of the Electoral College. This is because, of the 6,124 members able to vote, more than 50% are owner members, who cannot be included in the Transitional Body of the Deliberative Council, where only members from the Patrimonial, Laureate and Contributors categories, including those Off-Rio, can compete. On the other hand, on the Board of Directors, all categories are allowed, but two-thirds of the members must be owners. The process follows the order of ticket registration, registration and approval, which will be carried out by the CoAd until November 10th.

Reduction of the Electoral College

For the second time since 2012, Flamengo's Electoral College shrank. In 2021, 6,886 members were eligible to vote, a drop of 1,128 compared to 2018, when the club had 8,014 eligible members. This year, the number decreased to 6,124, although it may still vary due to pending payments. This number is close to the level seen in 2012, when 5,932 members had the right to vote.

The Flamengo has revealed several players in recent years, who are highlighted in Europe. Furthermore, young people trained by Mais Querido are considered jewels of the base. Lorran, considered one of these great players, was named in the top-100 of the study list of the best under-20 athletes in the world. Along with other Brazilian names such as Endrick, Estevão, Kauã Elias and Wesley, the midfielder is one of football's greatest promises.

In a survey carried out by CIES, a football observatory that gathers data and analyzes statistics to create lists like this, in addition to specifying the most promising players, the research also showed how experienced each of the athletes are.

Each time, teams move up and use young athletes, and with that, the ranking was made to showcase the field experience of each jewel. Thus, Lorran is in the top-100, that is, with 23 matches in the main team Dearest, the midfielder is among those who play the most for their respective clubs.

LORRAN IN THE PROFESSIONAL

Brazilian, Libertadores and World Champion with the Sacred Mantle, Lorran is one of the highlights of the red and black base. Now, the young man is waiting for more opportunities in the professional team, where he has already scored a goal and two assists.

Flamengo returns to the pitch for the Copa Libertadores on September 19th, when they face Peñarol (URU) in the quarter-finals of the competition. "I've already played in the Libertadores with Racing, but now I'll be able to play for Flamengo. I'm very happy and looking forward to playing in this decisive phase", said the player, who will be available to coach Tite for the clash against Peñarol.

Alcaraz arrives at the team with the mission of strengthening the midfield, which already has names like Gerson, De La Cruz, Erick Pulgar and Arrascaeta, expanding Tite's options for the decisive games of the tournament.

ALCARAZ'S ABSENCES IN THE BRASILEIRÃO AND BRAZIL CUP

While preparing for the Libertadores, Alcaraz faces some difficulties in the national calendar . After being sent off in the 2-1 defeat against Corinthians, the Argentine is suspended from the classic against Vasco, valid for the Brazilian Championship. Furthermore, he cannot play in the Copa do Brasil match against Bahia, as he is not registered at this stage of the competition. However, if Flamengo advances to the semi-finals, the midfielder may be used.
