Speculated as a possible reinforcement of Flamengo to fill the gap left by Pedro, striker Anthony Martial is free on the market, but has not played since December 9, 2023. On that occasion, Manchester United, his former club, entered the field to face Bournemouth and lost 3-0 in the Premier League. Martial was a starter and played for 56 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, the French striker suffered a groin injury that required surgery. Therefore, he was away for around 42 days, only returning in March. Even though there were three months left on his contract, Manchester United chose to let go of the player. Since then, Martial has been evaluating his next club and Flamengo is paying attention to his movements.

Just like Flamengo, Anthony Martial suffered from injuries in 2023/24. The star had several physical problems that kept him away from the field for a total of 60 days. Due to muscle pain, the player was not available for United in 12 matches last season.

Status of the deal between Flamengo and Anthony Martial

If the If Flamengo is really interested in the Frenchman, they will have to race against time and agree on the signing by Monday (9). Registration for free players is closing. According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works at the Gianluca Dimarzio portal, the deal could come to fruition soon.

Offered to Flamengo by his staff, Martial also had a drop in his personal numbers. In the 2022/23 season, the player scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League. In 2023/24, it was just one goal and no pass that resulted in the ball in the opponents' net.

The Flamengo faced a challenging night in Bogotá, where the altitude proved to be a significant obstacle during the draw with Millonarios. The result, 1-1, left a bitter taste for the Brazilian team, who now find themselves facing not only opponents on the field, but also the physical effects of the altitude.

In the first moments of the match, it was evident the difficulty that Rubro-Negro would face. Despite being well prepared physically, the team struggled to adjust to the speed of the ball, which travels faster at high altitudes. From the beginning, the strategy was to manage possession of the ball to minimize risks.

EXCESSIVE CONCENTRATION ERRORS

This control strategy was successful in the first 15 minutes. During this period, Flamengo managed to impose its game and create scoring opportunities. At five minutes, Viña had a clear chance after a play between Everton "Cebolinha" and Bruno Henrique, but failed to finish.

Shortly later, Arrascaeta played an individual role that resulted in a dangerous shot, requiring a Great save from the opposing goalkeeper. However, Flamengo were evident, with the left side of the team giving up a lot of space and allowing Millonarios to threaten the goal.

Flamengo's coach and players recognize the importance of learning from take this experience and adjust their approach to better deal with the adverse conditions they will face throughout the competition. With this in mind, the team remains focused on its goals and determined to overcome the obstacles it encounters along the way.
