In recent weeks, Flamengohas been facing a worrying sequence of injuries among its players. In a period of approximately one month, four of the club's athletes needed to undergo surgery, which raises an alarm in the team both in relation to physical preparation and planning for the season.
The first to face surgery it was Everton Cebolinha, on August 14th. The attacker suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left ankle. This injury is known to require a long recovery period, with forecasts ranging from six to eight months before returning to the field. This means that Cebolinha will be out of action for a large part of the season, which directly impacts Flamengo's planning.
THE CLUB SUFFERS FROM INJURIES
No The following day, on August 15, Uruguayan left-back Guillermo Varela also underwent surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Cruciate ligament injuries are one of the most serious and feared in football, as the recovery time is usually long, generally between six to nine months. Varela's case, similar to that of Cebolinha, represents a weightlessness for the squad.
Just less than a month later, on September 13th, it was striker Pedro's turn to go through the same situation as Varela. The player suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, another serious injury that requires months of recovery and intensive physiotherapy care. Pedro is one of the main players of Flamengo, and his absence will certainly bring challenges for the team in the remainder of the season.
Finally, on September 16th, Luiz Araújo closed the list of Flamengo athletes who needed surgery in a short period of time. The player suffered a fractured cartilage in his right knee, an injury that also requires surgery and a significant recovery time, varying from three to six months, depending on the severity and the body's response to treatment.

Flamengo's own stadium project gained direct participation from Companhia Carioca de Parcerias e Investimentos (CCPAR) in the preliminary agreement signed between the club, the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and Caixa Econômica Federal. Specializing in concessions and partnerships, the municipal public company will be responsible for investing R$29.2 million, approximately 15% of the R$199.6 million earmarked for the Gasômetro land acquisition.
The amount will be allocated as financial compensation to Caixa, the former owner of the space through the Porto Maravilha Real Estate Investment Fund , which was expropriated by the City for the auction that resulted in Flamengo 's purchase. This information is from GE.
Flamengo will receive the majority of the amount: R$170 million . This amount includes the R$138 million already paid in the 2023 auction, plus R$7.9 million for the judicial investigation, and an additional R$23.6 million, which will be paid in five installments.
Despite progress in negotiations, the project still faces obstacles. Removing the gas pipelines and clearing the land remain the responsibility of the City Hall . Governor Cláudio Castro assured the website 'MundoBola Flamengo' that the municipality is committed to these steps.
At Flamengo, the topic is being treated cautiously. The Deliberative Council is preparing to discuss ways to secure the necessary resources without compromising the institution's financial health . Contrary to what had been reported, the topic of the new stadium did not come up at the last CoDe meeting.

Flamengo and Internacional face each other this Wednesday (13), at Maracanã, for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Conmebol Libertadores. The return duel is scheduled for August 20, at Beira-Rio. Abel Braga, former coach with spells at both clubs, assessed that both teams arrive at the clash experiencing periods of instability .
Abel Braga on Flamengo and Internacional: "neither is at its best"
"It's an extremely close game. Flamengo hasn't been able to maintain a winning streak of four, five, or six wins . They're also coming off an elimination. Inter, which wasn't doing well, managed three or four 1-0 wins and made a significant leap forward. It has all the makings of a great game, but the truth is that neither team is at their best," Abel analyzed in an interview with GE.
The coach also highlighted the strengths of each team: "I hope it's a great game. Both Flamengo and Inter have the squads to put on a great show. Flamengo, with their usual high-pressing . Inter, with their surprising passing from one side to the other, especially with Wesley. It's hard to imagine Flamengo man-marking Alan Patrick," he concluded.
Under Filipe Luís, Flamengo was eliminated from the Copa do Brasil, but remains the undisputed leader of the Brasileirão, despite having played a game less . In its last ten games, the team has six wins, one draw, and three losses. Internacional, meanwhile, has won four, drawn two, and lost four in the same period. The pressure on coach Roger Machado is mounting at the Rio Grande do Sul club.
