For the first time in the history of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, the presidential election will be held using electronic voting machines, provided by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE). The election is scheduled for December 9, 2024, according to an official statement issued this Tuesday (24) by the president of the club's General Assembly, Carlos Henrique Fernandes.

ELECTION WITH ELECTRONIC VOTING BOXES

In the notice sent to members, the club informed that voting will take place from 8am to 9pm, at the Hélio Mauricio Gymnasium, at the Gávea headquarters. To participate, it will be mandatory to present ID, CNH or other document with photo that contains the CPF number, in addition to the club's social card.

Unlike government elections, in the Mais Querido election there will be the printing of a proof of the result. The adoption of electronic voting machines should speed up the counting process, which, in previous years, used to take hours. In the last election, for example, the difference between second and third place was decided by just one vote.

SIX CANDIDATES IN THE DISPUTETo date, six candidates are in the race to assume the presidency of Mengão. Among them are well-known names from the club's internal politics, such as Rodrigo Dunshee de Abranches, Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap), Maurício Gomes de Mattos, Wallim Vasconcellos, Pedro Paulo and Delair Dumbrosck. The registration period for tickets takes place between September 10th and 30th.

IN-PERSON VOTING

The election will be 100% in person, with voting taking place on December 9th, from 8am to 9pm, in Gávea. The process promises to be more agile, thanks to the use of electronic voting machines, and the participation of members will be essential to define the next president of the CRF.

TITE AND THE DECISION IN THE LIBERTADORES

With Tite in charge, the CRF seeks to reverse the score against Peñarol this Thursday (26), in Montevideo, in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores final. In the first match, held at Maracanã, Rubro-Negro was defeated 1-0, which increased the pressure on the coach. Despite this, the board maintained its confidence in the coach.

On the afternoon of this Tuesday (24), hundreds of red and black fans gathered at Galeão Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, to support the Flamengo as they embark for Montevideo, where they will face Peñarol, in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores. Despite recent criticism of coach Tite and the team's performance, the moment was one of unconditional support, in a traditional "AeroFla".

CHANGE IN BOARDING AVOIDS CONTACT BETWEEN FANS

Unlike other occasions, Mengão's boarding took place through the airport's cargo terminal, and not through the main hall. The measure was taken to avoid possible conflicts, as Botafogo was also scheduled to travel at a close time. Despite the more difficult access to the venue, several fans gathered at the railings to show support and shout words of encouragement, such as "Let's turn around, Mengo".

The Mais Querido followed on a chartered flight to Uruguay in the late afternoon. In the neighboring country, the team led by Tite will make the final adjustments for the decisive clash. With the 1-0 defeat in the first game, at Maracanã, CRF needs a victory to continue in the competition. If you win by one goal difference, the place will be determined on penalties; a victory by two goals guarantees direct qualification to the semi-finals

During the trip to the airport, journalist Wesley Ramon, from FlazoeiroTV, managed to film a tribute to Gabigol. The image shows a flag of the Prince of Gávea, written ''Predestinado''.

DECISIVE MATCH FOR LIBERTADORES

The duel between Flamengo and Peñarol, which will define one of the semi-finalists of the Copa Libertadores , takes place next Thursday (26), at 7pm (Brasília time), at the Campeón del Siglo stadium, in Montevideo. The confrontation promises to be fierce, with both teams seeking a place in the continental tournament.
