In the final stretch of the last window, Porto, from Portugal, would have received a proposal from Flamengo for midfielder André Franco. According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, Mengão offered an amount of 4 million euros. In other words, something around R$21.5 million. However, the Portuguese refused the amount. However, according to journalist Alexsander Vieira, ex-Estadão, a new value was established.

Alexsander believes that Porto would even be willing to sell André Franco, but only for 7 to 8 million euros, something that would give R $43 million. At the time of Flamengo's supposed interest, the second factor why Mengão was unable to sign the Portuguese-born athlete was the short time before the window closed. Porto, which no longer accepted the numbers, was still in the Champions League and would not be able to replace it with another piece on the market.

If Flamengo manages to complete the signing in the next window, André Franco, from 26 years old, he would arrive at a crucial moment in the season. In July, Fla could lose Erick Pulgar, De La Cruz and Arrascaeta during the Copa América period. If the Uruguayan and Chilean teams reach the final stretch, Mais Querido would suffer from absences for nine rounds of the Brazilian Championship.

Convincing André Franco to defend Flamengo in Brazil would not be easy

Generally, it is South Americans who go to Europe, and not the other way around. In other words, it would be a great mission for Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel to convince André Franco to accept the Flamengo project on Brazilian soil. The last feat was with the Spanish defender Pablo Marí, and it worked very well.

The soap opera Maracanãwon another chapter this Friday (19). The RNGD Consortium, from Arena 360, manager of Mané Garrincha, filed an appeal to continue in the dispute for the Rio de Janeiro stadium. The group claims that the notice drawn up by the State Government lacks clarity and questions the loss of points in the process due to the dates offered

The RNGD Consortium was disqualified for not reaching the minimum number of games set out in the bidding notice . However, Arena 360 disputes the decision, stating that the dates belong to the Confederations, such as the CBF, and not to the clubs. The company also emphasizes that the call instrument does not specify how each of the competitors must prove the number of games proposed and that they will meet the requirement of 70 matches.

Check out the official note in full from Arena 360 on the bidding for Maracanã:

The RNGD consortium, from Arena 360, filed an appeal to continue in the dispute for Maracanã. The group claims that the notice drawn up by the State Government lacks clarity and vehemently questions the loss of points due to the dates offered.

According to the Arena 360 board, the dates belong to the Confederations, such as the CBF, and not the clubs, and emphasizes that the call instrument does not specify how each of the competitors must prove the number of games proposed. Arena highlighted in its proposal the commitment to hold at least 70 games.

The competitor emphasizes that the notice itself mentions the Maracanã Stadium's vocation as the World Temple of Football, and that the concessionaire should make efforts to hold as many football games as possible per year. Furthermore, it states that, throughout the analysis of the proposals, the Bidding Committee conducted the work without maintaining contact with the consortium, failing to take steps to provide clarifications.

In addition to Arena 360, Maracanã para Todos consortium , formed by Vasco and WTorre, also appealed. Despite having been qualified for the next phase of the bidding, the competitor claims that the process benefited the duo Flamengo and Fluminense, current stadium managers and favorites to win the dispute, as their rivals' scores were much higher than the others.

In Flamengo's sights, Portuguese André Franco was removed from Porto's squad after the 2-2 draw against Famalicão last Saturday (13). The player was approached by the board in the last transfer window, but there was no agreement. In addition to the 26-year-old player, Spaniards Ivan Jaime and Toni Martínez and Mexican Jorge Sánchez also started training separately from the Dragão squad. The Portuguese club is studying a termination with all athletes.

According to the Portuguese newspaper “Record”, the decision was taken jointly between the technical committee and the Porto football board. André Franco was not performing as expected in Porto's evaluation. As the report found, the Portuguese club is studying contract termination with the midfielder. If this happens, the player would be free on the market to sign with the red and black team free of charge.

When asked about the reasons for the decision at a press conference this Tuesday (16), Sérgio Conceição, coach of Porto, showed great irritation at the journalists' question. “Now I have to justify my work? Talking here creates situations where there is nothing to say. I can decide to have six or seven players do a specific job, at different times. There is no more to say. To play for Porto, it is not enough to have a contract, whether to play or work”, Conceição enthused.

Flamengo sought to sign André Franco at the beginning of the year, after the departure of Thiago Maia to Internacional. In the club's opinion, the player can perform more than one role from midfield to forward. Rubro-Negro offered a proposal of 4 million euros (around R$21.52 million at the time) for 80% of the midfielder's rights, but Porto ended up refusing the proposal.

Last week, Bolavip Brasil reported that there is an agreement between Flamengo and the Portuguese to sign a bond. The parties aligned salary issues and business conditions. All that remained was the release of the Portuguese club, which even asked for something around R$54 million to accept a negotiation. The CRF even got in touch for a loan with an option to buy.

Now able to be free, the midfielder should have an easier exit. Some Portuguese teams have investigated the player's situation, as well as the Asian market, but a decision should only be made with the opening of the next window.
