Tite's Flamengo is the most disappointing in the Brasileirão, says journalist

After the draw with Vasco in the Brasileirão, Flamengo remains stuck in fourth place in the championship. Despite having one game in hand, the eight-point difference to leader Botafogo makes the fight for the title quite complicated. For journalist Ricardo Perrone, this difficulty is due to what he considers Tite's "disappointing work".

Although Flamengo is still alive in the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores, part of the fans view with suspicion a supposed "soft body" in the Brasileirão. The club, which led the championship until the end of the first round, suffered a series of stumbles and a poor start in the return, which compromised its chances of remaining at the top, now occupied by Botafogo and Palmeiras.

According to Perrone, Tite's biggest problem is not being able to exploit the potential of such a talented squad, keeping Flamengo competitive in all competitions.

“Tite's work is one of the most disappointing in the entire Brazilian Championship. The performance of Flamengo, fourth placed, is far from disastrous. The problem is that it is also far from what its full-bodied cast can do. Tite cannot bring anything close to the best that the group in his hands has to offer”, said Ricardo Perrone.

Despite pointing out Tite as the main person responsible for the performance of Flamengo in the Brasileirão, Perrone also highlights that players and management are not exempt from blame. “Obviously, Tite is not the only one responsible for the lower-than-expected performance. Players and management also have a good dose of responsibility”, he added.

O Flamengo, one of the clubs that invested the most in Brazilian football this year, brought major reinforcements to the squad, such as De La Cruz, Léo Ortiz, Alcaraz, Michael and Alex Sandro. However, a series of injuries meant that the team, which looked so qualified, struggled. For Perrone, even with the absences, the signings should be able to overcome these obstacles.

“We need to be fair and remember the series of absences faced by Rubro-Negro. But the squad is strong enough to face periods like this”, said the journalist.

Perrone also compared the situation of Mengão with that of Fortaleza, a team of lesser expression and with less investment, which, even so, , is ahead of Flamengo in the table, although with one more game.

“Rubro-Negro is four points behind Fortaleza, in third place. Vojvoda works with a good group of players, but the quality of what Tite has at his disposal is superior. The natural thing would be for the Cariocas to be ahead of the Ceará in the classification. Flamengo still has a chance to finish the championship with more points than Fortaleza and is not out of the fight for the title. However, so far, its performance does not correspond to the investment made”, he concluded.
