Young Wallace Yan could be a key asset for coach Filipe Luís in Flamengo's attack for next Sunday's derby against Fluminense in the Brazilian Championship. With Bruno Henrique serving a suspension for a third yellow card, the promising player from Gávea has a chance to join the offensive system at Maracanã.
The 20-year-old striker gained even more attention after his performance at the Club World Cup. He scored two goals in the competition (one of them against Chelsea in the group stage) and found the net again in the 2-0 victory over São Paulo in the Brasileirão's restart.
In the battle between forwards, he has moved ahead of Juninho and has shown his worth when he comes on during games. Another option would be to use Gonzalo Plata as the key player in the box and form the attack with Luiz Araújo on the right and Everton Cebolinha on the left.
Center forward Pedro, the center of a relationship crisis with coach Filipe Luis due to his poor performance in training, could be back in the squad for the match against the Rio de Janeiro rival. However, it's unlikely he'll start. The red-and-black coach will decide the team that will take the field in tomorrow's training session at Ninho do Urubu.
With its midweek loss to Santos, Flamengo lost its lead in the Brazilian Championship. The Gávea club sits in second place with 27 points, while Cruzeiro, which has played a game more, has 30.
In the match against Cruzeiro, in which the tricolor was defeated, the team complained about the new lighting installations in the stadium, which underwent changes
|
On Cruzeiro 's side, the players didn't publicly criticize. "I didn't even notice. If you hadn't said anything, you wouldn't have realized it," said defender Fabrício Bruno, who scored one of the goals. "For me, it didn't make a difference. I'm even surprised, because I didn't know the lighting had been changed. It was fine," added midfielder Lucas Silva.
There are differences on TV and, according to some Tricolor fans, for those on the field. The point is that there's a new positioning of the floodlights, which are now LED, using new technology implemented at the Maracanã.
Previously, the light on the pitch came from a higher point, from the roof. Now, the LEDs are positioned in a section that gives the light a more angled/lateral orientation . This change has made the players' shadows much more apparent on the pitch. On TV, it's something that immediately catches the eye.
But it's not that there's a problem seeing who's in action. There's another issue with the broadcast's visuals— also noticeable live: the crowd is dimly lit. And here, it's because the lighting is gradually changing . It's divided into three circuits: the pitch, the audience, and the stage (the color section).
According to UOL, stadium management will still be working on the lighting system for fans. Stadium workers claim that the technical team working on Globo's broadcasting team liked what they saw during the lighting's debut match between Flamengo and São Paulo.
WHY DID IT CHANGE?
The Maracanã's lighting was changed for two reasons: energy savings and also to adapt to the style of shows and events.
"The new technology guarantees 65% savings in energy consumption and greater durability compared to old reflectors, in addition to enabling synchronized light shows," Maracanã management reported.
According to stadium management, this system is approved by FIFA, CONMEBOL, and the CBF. It is also planned for use in upcoming World Cups.
"ArenaVision LED is an innovative LED lighting solution that meets the latest TV broadcast standards. Designed exclusively for multi-sport applications, ArenaVision LED offers excellent light quality, effective thermal management and a long service life," explained Severiano Braga, CEO of Maracanã, in a statement.
With technical prominence, media coverage and international interaction, the Rio de Janeiro club once again shows why it is called “Most Beloved”
