De acordo com o Transfermarkt, portal especializado em scout e mercado da bola, Wesley passou a ter valor estimado em 35 milhões de euros, cerca de R$ 228 milhões na cotação atual. Trata-se da maior avaliação da carreira do jogador até o momento. Internamente, no entanto, a expectativa é de que a Roma exija cifras ainda superiores em uma eventual negociação.
Embora o Transfermarkt seja referência no mercado, o portal não considera algumas variáveis determinantes para o preço final de uma transferência. João Gomes deve deixar o Wolverhampton nos próximos meses diante da campanha desastrosa da equipe na Premier League e da iminente queda para a segunda divisão. O ex-jogador do Flamengo, que teve seu nome especulado no Manchester United, agora também entrou no radar do Crystal Palace.
De acordo com o jornal inglês The Telegraph, o Crystal Palace decidiu entrar na disputa pela contratação do volante no próximo verão europeu. A ideia do clube londrino é buscar João Gomes como possível substituto de Adam Wharton, que desperta interesse de gigantes do futebol inglês.
