CIES study points out the clubs that most use athletes under 21 years of age in the Brasileirão
|
0Flamengo is the sixth team in Brazil that used the most under-21 players in the Brasileirão over the last three years. A study published by the Football Observatory (CIES), this Wednesday (18), shows that the club is average in the number of athletes it puts on the field, but behind rivals in the time these young people play.
It is important to highlight that the study analyzes three years from August 9, 2021 to the same day this year. In other words, the only Brazilian Championships analyzed from start to finish were those of 2022 and 2023, together with the end of the 2021 tournament and 25 rounds of the current season. Furthermore, only players who had not reached the age of 21 were counted.
Flamengo is sixth in the national rankings. There were 21 young people up to the age of 20 who took to the field wearing the Sacred Mantle during this period, and they spent a total of 9.5% of the minutes played by the team on the field. An index higher than the general average for Series A (6.34%), but still below the 10% reached by the top five.
Vasco- 22 players- 13.2% of minutes
Fluminense- 19 players- 10.9%
Red Bull Bragantino- 26 players- 10.6%
Palmeiras- 26 players- 10.6%
Corinthians- 20 players- 10%
Flamengo- 21 players- 9.5%
Athletico-PR- 22 players- 9%
International- 20 players- 8%
p>
São Paulo-16 players- 7.7%
Cruzeiro- 24 players- 7.5%
This season, for example, there is a significant increase in this number . Three under-21 players took to the field for Flamengo in the Brasileirão. They are: Victor Hugo (20), Matheus Gonçalves (19) and Lorran (18), who have played 1,056 minutes on the field. Number that represents 46% of the 2,250 minutes played by Flamengo in 25 rounds (without additions). Index close to the biggest in the world.
It is worth noting that the teams above Flamengo use young people to fill the squad's needs, while Rubro-Negro usually goes to the market. This is one of the reasons that explains the difference in drafts for under-21s, in addition to the red and black sales policy, which releases very young players abroad.
But a season in which the team is full of embezzlements increased the presence of very young players. Highlight for Lorran, who played in 15 Brasileirão matches and was on the field for 598 minutes so far.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
