Last Sunday, Flamengo only drew at Maracanã with Palmeiras 1-1, in a game valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship. As a result, the red-black team was unable to reach the top of the table and fell to third place. Mais Querido's performance in the former Maior do Mundo has been leaving something to be desired.
Flamengo only has the fifth best home campaign in the Brazilian Championship, with seven wins, two draws and two defeats and winning 23 of the 33 possible points in the Maracanã (with the exception of the game against Criciúma , which was held at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília). Ahead of the red and black are Fortaleza (30 out of 36 points), São Paulo (26 out of 36), Cruzeiro and Bahia (25 out of 33).

Botafogo leads the campaign as a visitor, winning 21 of the 36 points in this condition, however, the red and black performance is higher (60% to 58.3%).
Situation is similar to recent years
Flamengo's home campaigns have been the weak point in the Brasileirão since 2022. That year, Flamengo was only the seventh best home team. In 2023, the situation worsened, with the red and black team only finishing ninth in the table considering only home games.
The campaigns as a visitor, however, have been good for the red and black. After also being in seventh place considering only away games in 2022, Flamengo was the best visitor in the Brazilian Championship in 2023 and is fighting for the same position in the current season.

With a great goal at the end, Gabigol secured Cruzeiro's 2-1 victory over Bahia, on Monday night (15), at Arena Fonte Nova . The result kept the Minas Gerais team firm in the fight for the leadership of the Brasileirão , currently occupied by Flamengo.
The first half was evenly balanced, with few clear-cut chances for either side. After the break, Bahia surged forward and opened the scoring in the 20th minute. In a swift counterattack, former Flamengo player Jean Lucas received the ball at the edge of the box and shot into the bottom right corner of Cássio's net , putting the home side ahead.
Trailing, Cruzeiro made changes that changed the course of the game. The introduction of Sinisterra and Gabigol gave the team a boost. In the 31st minute, Matheus Pereira made a great individual play, dribbling past two defenders, and hitting the post . Sinisterra capitalized on the rebound to equalize.

Saúl Ñíguez, one of Flamengo's key signings in the last transfer window, was very close to playing in Turkey before signing with the Rio de Janeiro club. Technical director José Boto revealed that the Spaniard had already reached an agreement with Trabzonspor , but the negotiations changed course overnight.
According to Boto, the opportunity arose shortly after Erick Pulgar's injury and Gerson 's departure. " Saúl emerged as a player capable of playing both roles; he was free on the market, but with a move to Trabzonspor almost certain ," he said.
