Flamengo stands out as the the only team from the G-4 that is still alive in the three main competitions of the season: Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores. This situation not only highlights the strength of the red and black squad, but also exposes the enormous challenge that the club faces in maintaining a high level of performance on all these fronts.

In the Brasileirão, Flamengo remains firm in the fight for the title, appearing among the top four. Consistency in the national championship is a reflection of the coach's work and the quality of the squad, which has been able to deal with the constant pressure of always being at the top of the table. The solid campaign so far demonstrates that the team has the resources to fight for the title, despite the intense marathon of games.

A PHASE OF DECISIONS

In the World Cup from Brazil, Flamengo has reached the quarter-finals, showing competitive football and eliminating tough opponents along the way. This competition, known for being one of the most unpredictable on the national calendar, requires the team to be prepared for direct confrontations, where any mistake can be fatal. Flamengo's ability to advance to this stage indicates that the club has managed to balance physical exhaustion and the need for immediate results.

In the Libertadores, Flamengo also remains in the fight for the title, being among the favorites to lift the trophy. Continental competition is one of the club's main objectives, which seeks to repeat its recent success and consolidate itself as one of the powers of South American football. Flamengo's presence in the final stages of this competition is a clear indication that the team is prepared to face the continent's giants.

In July this year, Santos showed interest in signing striker Carlinhos, currently at Flamengo. However, a FIFA regulation interrupted negotiations. According to the entity's rules, a player can be registered for up to three different clubs in the same season, but can only play official matches for two of these teams.

FIFA REGULATIONS PREVENT REGISTRATION

Before his arrival at Mais Querido, Carlinhos played for Nova Iguaçu, participating in competitions such as the Campeonato Carioca and the Copa do Brasil. This means that, according to article 5 of FIFA's Regulation on the Status and Transfer of Players, the striker had already played for two clubs during the season, which would prevent him from officially playing for Santos in 2023.

A The only exception provided for in the regulations would be a transfer to a club from an association with the opposite calendar to the Brazilian one, as happens in Europe, where the seasons run from August to July. As the move to Santos does not fit into this situation, the São Paulo club withdrew its interest.

CARLINHOS GETS CHANCES AT MENGÃO

In addition to the regulatory obstacle, Carlinhos also showed no interest in leaving Flamengo. The striker, who started to receive more opportunities under the command of coach Tite, has been used mainly in the absence of Pedro, who is recovering from an injury. The young player has already entered the field in Libertadores and Brasileirão matches, contributing with two important goals against Atlético-MG and Vitória.

With Pedro's injury, Bruno Henrique has been improvised in the center forward position, occupying the starting position at Flamengo . Gabigol, who also competes for Mengão's attack and has already scored four goals this season, remains one of the team's offensive options.

Another name that caught his attention was Estêvão, a natural dribbler, something that Edmundo himself highlighted as one of his great qualities on the field.

"I'm enchanted by some players, like John Kennedy, for their personality, but technically I was better than him. Estêvão is another, a great dribbler, and I considered myself a natural dribbler", commented the former player.

PRAISE FOR GABIGOL AND DUDU

Flamengo announced that striker Luiz Araújo was diagnosed with an osteochondral injury in his right knee. This injury involves a fracture in the cartilage, which causes pain and limits the player's mobility. To treat the problem, Luiz Araújo will undergo arthroscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows visualization and treatment of injuries within the joint.

This type of injury is not uncommon in high-performance athletes, especially those who place great load on joints, like football players. Arthroscopy is often used in these cases, as it allows direct treatment of the affected area, with less risk of complications compared to more invasive surgeries.

FLAMENGO HAS A NEW PROBLEM

According to information from the specialized website Trivela, the recovery time for this type of injury is around six to eight weeks. This period includes both post-surgical healing and rehabilitation, which is essential for the player to be able to resume his activities on the field safely and without risk of a new injury.

Osteochondral injuries are characterized by damage in the cartilage and underlying bone, usually caused by repetitive impacts or a sudden twist that puts stress on the joint. In the case of Luiz Araújo, the injury occurred in the right knee, which is one of the most affected joints in football players due to constant physical demands, jumping and sudden changes in direction.

A cartilagehas the function of absorbing impacts and allowing smooth movement of the joints. When this cartilage is damaged, movement becomes painful, and lack of proper treatment can lead to more serious problems, such as osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition of the joints. Arthroscopy is a surgical technique used to diagnose and treat joint problems. The procedure is performed with the aid of an arthroscope, a thin instrument with a camera at the tip that allows the surgeon to see inside the joint without the need for large cuts.
