Midfielder Gerson, 28, has one foot out of Flamengo . His desire to play for Zenit in Russia is public knowledge, and negotiations are advanced. However, in the last few hours, a contractual clause has reignited the impasse and could scupper a deal that was considered to be on track, and negotiations may not take place.
According to information gathered by journalist Julio Miguel Neto , Flamengo will not give up receiving R$40 million in compensation for the player's contract termination. The amount is related to a clause on image rights included in the most recent renewal of the contract between the parties.
The rule is clear: if the termination occurs without just cause — that is, at the player's request — the amount must be paid to the club . This amount is separate from the €25 million (R$159 million, at the current exchange rate) already offered by Zenit in the main proposal. The demand surprised the Russians and created a point of tension that could stall the deal.
Behind the scenes, Flamengo no longer sees Gerson as essential. After episodes of internal wear and tear and a drop in performance, the club understands that it is time to end the cycle, as long as the contractual terms are strictly respected. On the player's side, the strategy is to pressure the Russians to absorb this additional cost as well.
Gerson does not want to pay the R$40 million out of his own pocket and has been insisting that Zenit's directors include the amount in the negotiation . So far, however, the European club's response has not been encouraging. Zenit understands that the offer of €25 million already represents a considerable effort and does not plan to extend the investment due to the player's individual contractual issues.
Italians present an offer of 35 million euros for Rodrigo Muniz, and the former Brazilian club could profit more than R$68 million from the deal.

Atalanta, from Italy, remains firmly interested in signing Rodrigo Muniz, who came through the Rio de Janeiro club's youth ranks. The Italian club put forward a €35 million (approximately R$227.5 million) offer to buy the striker from Fulham, England. However, the English board declined the offer, as they expect to negotiate the striker for even higher fees.
Even without directly participating in the negotiations, Flamengo closely monitors market movements. This is because it retains 25% of the rights to any future sale of the player , in addition to the 5% stipulated by the training club mechanism.
If Atalanta's offer were accepted, the Brazilian club would pocket R$68.2 million . It's worth noting that Muniz scored in Fulham's Premier League debut, drawing the match against the Brighton club.
The striker has a contract with Fulham until June 2026 and has been attracting attention from other Premier League giants. In recent months, names such as Tottenham, Newcastle, and Leeds United have emerged as potential interested parties in signing him.
While monitoring the international market from afar, Flamengo remains focused on the ongoing competitions. The team led by Filipe Luís takes the field this Wednesday (20), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), against Internacional, at Maracanã, for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores.
On the rise in Brazilian football, Gabriel Brazão is attracting interest from major clubs, but Santos maintains a firm position and rejects million-dollar offers

According to information from UOL, Rubro-Negro presented an offer of seven million euros (approximately R$45 million) for 60% of the economic rights of Gabriel Brazão, Santos' standout goalkeeper in 2025. Despite the significant amount, the Santos board chose not to advance in the negotiations.
"I received the offer, I left it with the club, and the club took the direction it thought best. I'm happy here (at Santos), and I want to bring joy to Santos fans again. I'm with the club until the end and I'll keep working," Brazão declared.
Early in the afternoon of this Monday (18), Gazeta do Urubu once again sought sources from the board about the case. Therefore, people linked to Flamengo revealed that the athlete is being monitored, but there was never an official proposal.
With 33 appearances in 2025, Gabriel Brazão has established himself as a key player in the Santos squad . The board, which has already released João Paulo on loan to Bahia, considers it crucial to keep him at least until the end of the season, even with the pressure from major clubs.
The move comes at a time of transition at the goalkeeper position in Flamengo 's squad. With Matheus Cunha confirmed to be leaving for Cruzeiro starting in 2025, the board is looking for market options to strengthen the position and keep the squad competitive.
Amid Matheus Cunha's departure to Cruzeiro, the board is monitoring possibilities and looking for alternatives to reinforce the goalkeeper position in the squad.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão, currently with Santos, revealed that he has received an official offer from Flamengo . Despite the interest, the goalkeeper assured that he is committed to the São Paulo team in its fight against the relegation zone.
— I received the proposal, I left it with the club, the club took the direction it thought best, I'm happy here (at Santos) and I want to bring joy to the Santos fans again. I'm with the club until the end and I'll keep working — said the player after the 6-0 defeat to Vasco, this Sunday (17).
The search for a new goalkeeper gained momentum after Matheus Cunha's departure was confirmed, having signed a pre-contract with Cruzeiro . Without a place in Filipe Luís's squad, the 22-year-old will reinforce the Minas Gerais club starting in 2026. This move forces the board to consider new names to fill the roster.
The squad already features Agustín Rossi, a solid starter, as well as two talents who came through the youth academy. Dyogo Alves, 21, has been a consistent option on the bench , while Léo Nannetti, just 17, has already appeared in the squad for some Mengão matches this season.
While defining the future of the goalkeeper position, the team managed by Filipe Luís remains focused on the continental competition. Rubro-Negro faces Internacional again this Wednesday (20), at 9:30 pm, at Beira-Rio, in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores. After winning the first leg 1-0, at Maracanã, the club has the advantage of a draw to advance to the quarterfinals.
