Exactly one year ago, my red-black heart was beating strong with joy. It was Flamengo winning the Libertadores for the third time in history, with Gabigol filling the Athletico-PR net in Guayaquil, Ecuador, guaranteeing the 1-0 victory and the much-desired third championship. This sweet memory marked Flamengo's last title, which now finds itself immersed in a period of scarcity of achievements, in the midst of a 2023 that, so far, has been marked by disappointments.
Flamengo started the year with the expectation of shining in seven competitions, but the reality has been quite different. The team was runner-up in four of them: in Carioca, in the Copa do Brasil, in the Supercopa do Brasil and in the Recopa Sul-Americana. In the Club World Cup, hopes ended in the semi-final. In Conmebol Libertadores, the team fell prematurely in the round of 16.
