Flamengo will have an important period on the FIFA date to try to recover injured players as much as possible. However, they will need to give three athletes to the teams and try to minimize the chances of problems. Gerson, Pedro and Erick Pulgar appear this week for the Qualifiers.
Arrascaeta, Varela, De la Cruz and Viña are unable to play. All of them are injured and will miss Uruguay during the Fifa Data. The right-back was the last to be injured after feeling his hip again in the defeat to Corinthians. The midfielders have injuries to the back of their thighs and the full-back tore his knee ligament.
Gonzalo Plata was also left out of the squad. The Ecuadorian has been away from the national team since an act of indiscipline before the Copa América and remains out. Fla bets on its own experience to have the athletes called up “whole” after the period.
The technical committee repeated the protocol it already followed when it was in the Brazilian team and sent all the information about the physical situation of the athletes. From GPS data to medical situations, in addition to talking to the CBF medical department.
Pedro and Gerson demand attention. The striker returned this Sunday from a hamstring injury. He didn't play the full 90 minutes. Fla sent all his exams to the CBF. The midfielder reached 35 consecutive games. In the last 13 matches, he spent 14 and a half games on the field due to the long injury time.
"When we were there we received it from the clubs and Flamengo already sent the data of the two athletes to the technical committee. Especially in this case congested period. GPS metrics, if you have any complaints. In Pedro's case, Tannure (head of Flamengo's DM) spoke to Rodrigo Lasmar (DM of the team), he received all the data he has inside. Flamengo were communicated to the CBF. We are sure that they will be very well protected"
Fábio Mahseredjian, physical trainer
After the Copa América, Fla needed to take care of the squad. Erick Pulgar, for example, started on the bench in the first match after Chile was eliminated. Arrascaeta, Varela and De la Cruz, who reached the final, had a few days off before returning because Fla had a duel postponed. In the first game, the midfielders were starters. At the time, Viña was also in the squad, but he is out of the season now.
The club's number one priority will be to recover the players. Flamengo hopes to have Gabigol and Arrascaeta back for the Copa do Brasil. The situations of Varela and Léo Pereira will still be analyzed. De la Cruz and Michael are still out. Viña and Cebolinha are out of the season.
David Luiz and Wesley also felt the same. The two left the Neo Química Arena limping and the full-back complained that "the guys are crazy" when analyzing the fouls made by Corinthians. He suffered a harsh tackle in the final stretch of the match, which resulted in the expulsion of Yuri Alberto.
