Marcos Braz, Flamengo's vice-president of football, revealed the details behind the long-awaited signing of a player who had been the target of speculation and the club's desire. In an exclusive interview, Braz shared the behind-the-scenes of the negotiation that culminated in the athlete's arrival at Rio's red-black team.
During the conversation, Braz highlighted Flamengo's stance since the beginning of the process, making clear the interest in signing the player in question. "Flamengo maintained its stance from the beginning. It made it clear that it wanted to sign the player", stated the director.
According to Braz, several meetings were held, both with the athlete's agent and with the player himself , aiming to align the interests of all parties involved. "We held some meetings with the manager and with the player himself", he revealed.
DETAILS OF THE NEGOTIATIONS
However, the Flamengo's vice-president of football did not deny that the negotiation presented its difficulties, especially with regard to the financial aspect. "Afterwards, everyone knows what the difficulty was in relation to the price, the negotiation itself", he admitted Braz.
Despite the obstacles, Braz highlighted the tranquility with which Flamengo faced the negotiation process. "We treat it as peace of mind, but we are used to it," he declared. He further anticipated that the value of the transaction was expected to come closer to the club's expectations as the closing of the transfer window approached.

In the match against Internacional, the striker scored the winning goal in the 27th minute of the first half , heading in a corner kick from Luiz Araújo. The result gives Flamengo the advantage for the return leg at Beira-Rio.
After the game, Bruno Henrique assessed the team's performance: "We took possession in the first half, and in the second, because we wanted to score quickly, we ended up opening up a bit . It's something we need to improve, especially in the first 15 minutes of the second half."
Flamengo will decide its place in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores next Wednesday (20), at Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre. After beating Internacional 1-0 at Maracanã , in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores, Flamengo is preparing for the decisive duel of the return leg, this Wednesday (20), at Beira-Rio. Conmebol confirmed that Uruguayan referee Esteban Ostojich will be responsible for conducting the match .
In the 2025 edition of the tournament, the Uruguayan has already refereed seven matches. The VAR role will be handled by his compatriot Andres Cunha . This, however, is Flamengo 's first match refereeing by Ostojich in the current edition of the continental competition.
In total, there were four Mengão games under Ostojich's refereeing, with two wins, one draw and one defeat .
