Flamengo's board suffered a huge blow when their two best players were out of the season due to injury. Also, Wesley is about to leave for Europe. In this way, the red and black leaders are racing against time to replace the absences. Thus, one of Mais Querido's targets is right-back Cedric Soares.

According to information from journalist Venê Casagrande, Flamengo showed interest in signing Portuguese right-back, Cedric Soares, who is without a club. Talks between the parties are at an early stage.

CEDRIC'S BACKGROUND

The Portuguese full-back is without a club, but has extensive experience in Europe and with the Portuguese national team. Cedric is 32 years old and has played little in recent seasons, for Arsenal, the athlete played in just three matches and would not arrive to play immediately. Cedric could also play as a left back. Thus, Cedric has been without a club since July 2024, when his contract with Arsenal ended and the English club did not renew it.

Cedric started his career at Sporting (POR) and then moved to Académica OAF (POR). In 2015, the full-back transferred to Southampton (ING) where he stayed until 2019, when he was loaned to Inter Milan (ITA). In 2020, the player went to Arsenal, also on loan and then transferred permanently to the London club. Unable to find space, he was loaned to Fulham (ING) in 2023, for just six months.

MANAGERS TRAVEL TO EUROPE NEXT WEEK

To speed up talks for new reinforcements, Rubro-Negro managers, Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel, will travel to Europe next week . This way, it is possible that they return to Brazil with some contract already concluded.

Check it out:

"The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. The Flamengo has its eye on Cedric Soares, a 32-year-old right-back who recently left Arsenal and is available on the market. The Portuguese player, who has already played for important European clubs, appears as a possible signing to reinforce the red and black squad.

According to Matheus Leal, Flamengo's search for a right-back is driven by uncertainty about the permanence of Danilo, who can still continue in European football. Cedric Soares appears as a viable and experienced alternative to occupy the position, bringing with him a wealth of games for the Premier League and the Portuguese National Team.

A NEW "PROJECT" FOR THE FLAMENGO SIDELINE

Cedric Soares began his professional career at Sporting Lisbon, where he stood out and attracted the attention of clubs outside Portugal. His transfer to England's Southampton marked the beginning of his Premier League journey. At the English club, he established himself as one of the main players in the position, showing consistency and defensive quality.

After a standout period at Southampton, Cedric was loaned to Inter Milan and later signed by Arsenal. At the London club, he had a regular performance, but was unable to establish himself as an absolute starter, which culminated in his departure and availability on the market.
