This last Tuesday (17), Conmebol fined Flamengo because of flares in the Maracanã stands on August 15, when Mais Querido hosted Bolívar, for the round of 16 of the Libertadores.

O Mais Querido was a repeat offender and ended up falling under article 12.2 c) of the Conmebol Disciplinary Code, which talks about “lighting flares, fireworks or any other type of pyrotechnic object”. Thus, Flamengo will have to pay a fine of US$ 20 thousand (R$ 110.4 thousand) and another US$ 13.3 thousand (R$ 73.6 thousand) to "replace the expenses incurred by the entity in the hospitality space ", which must be the obligation of the home club according to article 4.2.13 of the Libertadores Club Manual.

Flamengo will have seven days to appeal the decision. If you are interested in pursuing it, Mais Querido will need to send a request to the Conmebol Commission and Appeals. If unsuccessful, the money from the fine will be deducted from the competition's broadcasting rights.

NEXT GAME

So, Mais Querido already turns on the alert for the next game. That's because Mais Querido returns to the field this Thursday (19), in a game valid for the Libertadores, against Peñarol. The expectation is for a packed Maracanã.

The ball rolls at 7pm, with live transmission throughout Brazil on ESPN, on a closed channel, and Disney+, via streaming. The decision will be valid for the Libertadores quarter-finals.
