Flamengo is keeping an eye on Colombian striker Juan José Rosa, 17, from Atlético Nacional-COL, aiming to reinforce its youth teams. The information was released by the profile Olheiro Sudaca, specialized in young South American talents.

Juan José Rosa caught the attention of Mengão during the Flamengo Adidas Cup tournament, held earlier this year, at Ninho do Urubu. The Rio club became champions of the competition, while the Colombian was awarded as the best striker of the tournament. Rosa stands out for his good physical fitness and tactical versatility, being able to play both as a winger and as a false 9.

The signing of Juan José Rosa aims to strengthen Flamengo's under-17 category, now under the responsibility of Eduardo Zuma, after Filipe Luís joined the team.

PRAISES TO THE YOUNG COLOMBIAN

The profile analyst FlamengoBase, Wendson Ferreira, expressed enthusiasm with Flamengo's interest in Juan José Rosa: "Juan José Rosa is an interesting winger, with good technical ability, one-on-one ability and physical strength. He is a promising player", highlighted Ferreira in his social networks.

NEW ACQUISITIONS IN THE BASE CATEGORIES

In addition to the interest in Juan José Rosa, Flamengo reinforced its youth categories with the signing of 19-year-old defender Wesley Juan. The player, who was at Acadêmico Viseu, in Portugal, signed a contract with the Rio club for a year and a half. Wesley Juan arrives to join the under-20 team, which is guided by Filipe Luís.

Victory to respect

Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.

Superliga

The dates of the Women's Super League have not yet been announced. However, there is an expectation that the competition will start in October. In total, 12 teams will play the tournament, in a round-robin system, with the eight best qualifying for the quarter-finals.

In the last edition, after all, Flamengo was eliminated by Praia Clube in the semi-final . Therefore, the goal for 2024/25 is to reach the decision and repeat the title won in 2000/01, when Rubro-Negro beat Vasco, in a historic decision at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho.

Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.

What will the Super Mundial be like?

< The competition organized by FIFA will be played for the first time with 32 teams next year. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage will be played in a single game.

The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.

The provocation was always present in the confrontation between Flamengo and Peñarol in the Libertadores. According to the president of the Uruguayan club, Ignacio Ruglio, midfielder Javier Méndez was never worried about the number of players that Rubro-Negro signed before the clash. Mais Querido was reinforced with Michael, Plata, Alex Sandro and Alcaraz.

“A few days ago, it was announced that we would face Flamengo, and every day there was a new signing. Talking to him, I said: ‘Javi, these crazy people bring in a new player every day’. And he said to me: ‘Let them bring Messi. They have no chance against us. They won't win here or there,'” Ruglio revealed to the local press, after Peñarol eliminated Mengão on Thursday night (27).

The president also criticized the volume of signings from the Flamengo in 2024 and highlighted that Peñarol brought the right players for the season.

“Flamengo brought 10 players for 20 million dollars, but they didn't fit. Ours have been on the field for six months. We repeated that we had a club in order and with a good squad, but they told us: ‘But who else are they going to bring?’. It didn't value itself in the right way and they're seeing the results now”, concluded Ignacio.

Peñarol will face Flamengo's rival in the semi-final: Botafogo

After 51 years, Botafogo returns to a Libertadores semi-final and will face Peñarol, the team that eliminated Flamengo. It is worth mentioning that during the season, Rubro-Negro played against the future opponent of the Uruguayans three times: two defeats (2-0 and 4-1 – Brasileirão) and one victory (1-0 – Carioca).
