Flamengo recently celebrated an important milestone for its base: the under-20 world title, won in a thrilling victory over Olympiacos, from Greece. The achievement, which completes a month, was celebrated with an event at CT Ninho do Urubu, last Tuesday (24), where the club updated the walls of the base module with photos and phrases alluding to the achievement.

All players and members of the coaching staff who participated in the campaign received lifetime passes to the club's museum. Among those present was Filipe Luís, who currently leads the Rubro-Negro under-20 team. The only absentees were Matheus Gonçalves, Lorran and Dyogo Alves, who are in Uruguay with Tite's main team, but will receive their honors upon returning to Rio de Janeiro.

FILIPE LUÍS DISCARDS TAKING UP THE MAIN TEAM

Even with the growing pressure on coach Tite, who is facing criticism from some of the fans, the name of Filipe Luís, former full-back and Mais Querido's idol, has often been mentioned as a possible replacement. However, the club is not considering promoting Filipe to command the main team at this time.

According to information from the newspaper O Globo, people close to Filipe Luís claim that he does not feel ready to take on this responsibility. Furthermore, he follows the team's situation closely and understands that the recent drop in performance, in the midst of three simultaneous competitions, is natural.

THREE REASONS NOT TO TAKE CHARGE OF MENGÃO

There are three main factors that influence Filipe Luís' decision not to accept the challenge of commanding Flamengo. First, the former player considers that the high number of injuries in the main squad would harm his debut as a coach. Second, he assesses that he would not have enough time to meet and work with players with whom he has not yet played directly. Finally, Filipe believes that this moment of the season, with decisive games and the pressure for immediate results, would not be the ideal scenario to start his career as coach of the first team.

Flamengo faced Boavista this past Saturday afternoon (21), in the first game of the Carioca under-20 semi-final. The teams were only tied 1-1, in a game that took place at the Elcyr Resende de Mendonça Stadium, in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro. Rubro-Negro opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the first half, with Guilherme Gomes.

MATCH SUMMARY

< Rubro-Negro had good chances created in the first, but ended up going into the break with a draw. At 18 minutes, Guilherme Gomes scored for Mais Querido. After a free kick, the ball was left inside the area and the number 10 pushed it into the net. The midfielder had already scored a goal against Boavista in the initial phase of the competition.

However, soon after, in the 23rd minute, Boavista managed to equalize the score. After a direct connection from the defense, Rivas, shirt 17, came face to face with Mais Querido's goalkeeper and scored the goal with a touch under Lucas Furtado's legs.

The second half started off balanced, with few chances for both teams. Boavista no longer had as much space to counterattack, creating no threat to Flamengo's goal. However, Mais Querido even created some opportunities, but had difficulty finishing the moves.

RETURN CONFRONTATION

Thus, seeking to qualify for the final of the Carioca Under-20 Championship, Mais Querido hosts Boavista in Gávea next Saturday (28), at 11am. If they advance, Rubro-Negro could face a classic, as Fluminense and Vasco are in the other group.
