Flamengo has the opportunity to secure a significant sum by advancing to the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The Rio team will face Bahia this Thursday (12), at Maracanã, in a decisive match for the quarter-finals of the competition. The game is scheduled for 9:45 pm (Brasília time), and expectations are high, as the classification will yield around R$9.5 million to the club's coffers.
The Copa do Brasil prizes increase as teams advance. If Mengão secures a place in the final, the prize for runner-up will be R$31.5 million. However, the champion will receive R$73.5 million.
These values represent an increase of 5% compared to the 2023 edition, in which Mais Querido finished in second place, earning around R$48.7 million. In a similar campaign in 2024, the club should pocket approximately R$51 million. So far, Flamengo, which entered the competition from the third phase, has already accumulated around R$10 million in prizes.
< br>IMPORTANT RETURNS FOR THE CONFRONTATIONFor the decisive game against Bahia, coach Tite will count on the return of two important players: Pulgar, Gerson and Fabrício Bruno, who were available to the Seleção Brazilian and trained normally last Wednesday (11). Furthermore, Gabigol and Arrascaeta, who were injured, have already recovered and will also be available for the clash.
In the first game, Flamengo beat Bahia 1-0, with a goal from Bruno Henrique. With this result, the Rio team only needs a draw or any victory to advance to the semifinals and guarantee R$9.5 million. Red-and-black striker is the target of speculation in the transfer market

This Monday (16), rumors emerged involving Bahia's interest in signing Gabigol, striker from Mais Querido. According to the channel Paparazzo Rubro-Negro, Tricolor de Aço would have entered the dispute for Gabigol, who has a contract with Flamengojust until December this year. In addition to Bahia, clubs such as Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Grêmio, Palmeiras and Santos would also be keeping an eye on the player.
Despite the speculation, the Bahia board was quick to deny any ongoing negotiations to count on the shirt 99 from Mengão. According to the club's leadership, there is no intention of repeating an operation similar to that carried out with Everton Ribeiro.
As soon as news of the supposed interest began to circulate, Bahia tried to clarify the situation. In a statement, the club's senior management stated that there are no negotiations to sign Gabigol for next season. The information of possible interest, therefore, was directly denied by Tricolor's directors.

With Bahia's denial, Corinthians remains the main favorite to sign Gabigol from next year.
