Flamengo beat Bahia 1-0 on Wednesday night (28), at Casa de Apostas Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador, for the first game of the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil. The only goal of the match was scored by Bruno Henrique, after an assist from De la Cruz, guaranteeing an important advantage for Rubro-Negro in the match.

INJURIES TO MICHAEL AND LA CRUZ WORRY FLAMENGO

Despite the victory, not everything was cause for celebration for Flamengo. During the second half, Michael, who had entered in the 26th minute, had to leave the field just 22 minutes later, after feeling pain in his right thigh. The attacker was removed from the pitch with the help of physiotherapist Márcio Puglia and physical trainer Fábio Mahseredjian.

De la Cruz, who assisted Bruno Henrique's goal, also felt pain in the hamstring of his thigh right. The midfielder was replaced precisely for Michael's entry and, at the end of the match, he was seen showing signs of pain to Bruno Henrique, indicating a possible muscle strain.

PLAYERS WILL BE RE-EVALUATED IN RIO DE JANEIRO

Flamengo reported that both Michael and De la Cruz felt pain in their right thigh and will be re-evaluated upon the delegation's arrival in Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday Monday (29). Both will undergo imaging tests to determine the severity of the injuries, which raises concerns for the remainder of the season.

SKILLS ACCUMULATE IN THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT< /b>

Michael, recently signed and playing in his second game for Flamengo, joins a growing list of injured players in the red and black squad. De la Cruz, Viña (knee and tibia injury), Cebolinha (Achilles tendon), Pedro, Gabigol and Arrascaeta (thigh injuries) are also in the medical department. The Rio team returns to the field next Sunday (1st), when they will face Corinthians, at 4pm, at Neo Química Arena, in the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Carlos Alcaraz, Argentine midfielder from Flamengo, was once again available to Tite after serving a suspension in the last game against Vasco, valid for the Brazilian Championship. Now, he is preparing for the decisive Libertadores clash against Peñarol (URU), where he should be one of the fundamental pieces of the red and black squad.

Since August 30th, when he started training at Ninho do Urubu, Alcaraz has been attracting attention for its performance. His first match for Mengão took place on September 1st, in a game against Corinthians, when the midfielder came on in the second half and had a performance that pleased both the coaching staff and the fans.

ADAPTATION PERIOD

After a period of 17 days of training, Alcaraz is fully adapted to the team's style of play. This time was essential for coach Tite to better understand the player's qualities and potential on the field, preparing him for future important challenges with Mais Querido.

MILLIONAIRE HIRING

Carlos Alcaraz arrived at Flamengoin a negotiation that involved 17.6 million euros (approximately R$108 million), with Flamengo acquiring 80% of its economic rights from Southampton, from England. The midfielder, who is just 21 years old, signed a five-year contract with the Rio club, valid until August 2029.

Experienced coach Joel Santana commented, on his YouTube channel, about Gabigol's situation at Flamengo under Tite's command. Joel believes that Gabi is hurt by his current position in the team, where he is the third reserve in attack, behind even Carlinhos, who was hired at the beginning of the season from modest Nova Iguaçu.

Joel suggested that Tite and Gabigol should have a conversation to resolve possible differences and improve the situation: “Do you think the guy is happy? Our beloved center forward, who gave so much glory, is sad, he is hurt. He sits the two of them down: ‘Let’s just have a chat between the two of us’. There you and Gabi are left. Sit down and talk”, said the 'King of Rio', as he became known for having been champion in the city's four biggest clubs.

Joel Santana's History at Flamengo< /p>

Joel Santana is an important figure in Flamengo's history, being the seventh coach with the most games for the club. He had several notable spells, with titles such as the 1986 Carioca Championship, the Conmebol Gold Cup and the 2008 State Championship. In his 200 games in charge, Joel achieved 114 wins, 45 draws and 40 defeats.

Tite's termination fine at Flamengo

If Flamengo decides to terminate Tite's contract, the club would have to pay the amount related to his salary until the end of his contract, which runs until December 2024. With Tite receiving around R$1.8 million per month, the fine would total R$7.2 million. The information was released by the RTI Esporte portal.

However, so far, everything indicates that Tite will remain in charge of Flamengo until the end of the contract.

This Monday (16), Flamengo officially informed Luiz Araújo's injury, which occurred in the classic against Vasco last Sunday (15). The striker was injured and, after examinations, the club's medical department confirmed the severity of the injury. With this, the player is out of the important clash against Peñarol in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores.

Mengão returns to the field this Thursday (19), at 7pm, at Maracanã, to face Peñarol in the first game of the Libertadores quarter-finals. The Brazilian team is looking for a good result at home to take advantage in the second leg, which will be played at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium, in Montevideo, on September 26th.

< p>IMPORTANT RETURNS AND CHANGES IN THE CAST

For the match against Peñarol, the coach will count on the return of De la Cruz, recovered from injury, and the return of Ayrton Lucas to the left side. Furthermore, Gonzalo Plata will be Luiz Araújo's replacement in the attack, seeking to strengthen the red and black offensive.

Mais Querido's probable lineup for the decisive clash should include: Rossi; Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira and Ayrton Lucas; Erick Pulgar, De La Cruz and Gerson; Arrascaeta, Bruno Henrique and Gonzalo Plata. The team is going through adjustments, but the intention is to guarantee a positive result at home to reach the return game in Uruguay more calmly.

UNFAVORABLE HISTORY AGAINST PEÑAROL

Despite the fans' expectations, the recent history between Flamengo and Peñarol does not favor Rubro-Negro. The teams have already faced each other six times, with four victories for the Uruguayans, one draw and only one victory for Mengão. The last meeting was in the 2019 Libertadores group stage, when Flamengo lost 1-0 at Maracanã and drew goalless in Montevideo.
