Flamengo received positive news amid concern over striker Pedro's injury. The player, who suffered a serious injury to the cruciate ligament in his left knee, chose to undergo surgery with the same doctor who treated him in 2018, Luiz Antônio Vieira Martins. The surgeon was responsible for the operation when Pedro faced a similar problem playing for Fluminense.

In 2018, Pedro suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament during a match between Fluminense and Cruzeiro, resulting in a recovery of seven months and three weeks. The good news this time is that the injury did not involve the meniscus, which could benefit recovery time. For Mengão, it is estimated that the attacker will take around eight months to return to the field.

SURGERY SCHEDULING

Flamengo announced during the presentation of Gonzalo Plata, the club's new reinforcement, that Pedro's surgery is scheduled to take place between next Friday (13/9) and Saturday (14/9). The operation will be carried out by Dr. Luiz Antônio Vieira Martins, known for his successful work in recovering similar injuries.
