Right-back in Bournemouth's sights remains at the club with €200 million termination fine
|
0Flamengo announced this Thursday the renewal of the contract of 20-year-old right-back Wesley. The contract, which was previously valid until December 2025, was extended until the end of 2028. With the renewal, the player's termination fine increased to 200 million euros (R$1.1 billion at current prices). The information was released by the GE website.
Last week, Bournemouth, from England, made an offer of 12 million euros (R$71.2 million) to acquire Wesley, but Flamengo refused initial proposal. Despite this, the English club remains interested in the player, and negotiations remain ongoing.
Wesley had already attracted interest from other Premier League clubs previously. In 2023, Barcelona made a loan proposal with an option to buy, but coach Vítor Pereira decided to keep the player in the squad at the time.
With Wesley confirmed in the squad, Flamengo is preparing to face Fortaleza this Thursday (11), at 8pm (Brasília time). The match, valid for the 16th round of the Brazilian Championship, will be held at Maracanã. For Flamengo, it is essential to win to maintain the lead in the competition.
Currently, Flamengo leads the Brasileirão with 31 points out of 45 possible. Under Tite's command, the team won nine matches, drew four and lost two, in addition to scoring 27 goals and conceding 15. Fortaleza, in turn, occupies eighth place in the table, with 23 points won.

Portuguese coach has had his name mentioned among candidates for election at the club
|
0Flamengo has kept Jorge Jesus as a frequent target since the historic 2019 season. However, bringing him back, currently at Al-Hilal, would not be an easy task, especially due to the coach's high salary, which is among the highest paid in the world.
According to information from journalist Jorge Nicola, the termination fine to remove "Mister" from the Arab club is 40 million reais. Furthermore, it would be necessary to negotiate a new salary, as Jesus currently earns around 70 million reais per year, tax-free, which is equivalent to more than 6 million reais per month. The Portuguese's name resurfaced at Flamengo by candidates for election at the club.
If Flamengo or any other Brazilian club managed to sign him, Jesus would become the highest paid football coach on the continent, surpassing Abel Ferreira, coach from Palmeiras, who receives around 3 million reais per month.
Possible competition from the Brazilian team for Jorge JesusWith Tite's situation uncertain to lead Flamengo in 2025, Jorge Jesus' name begins to be mentioned behind the scenes. However, the Brazilian team could also enter the dispute for the coach. Despite the recent arrival of Dorival Júnior at the helm of the national team, there is suspicion within the CBF about the continuity of his work.
Therefore, Jorge Jesus becomes a coveted target for both Flamengo and the Brazilian team, both of whom are aware that they will have to make a considerable investment if they want to rely on the technician.
Rubro-Negro finds itself at the moment of greatest instability in the season
|
0Since the beginning of the year, competing in all possible competitions, Flamengo has faced a series of problems in the final stretch of the season due to wear and tear. Injuries and the need to save players have caused headaches for Tite, a situation that, according to André Rizek, should not happen.
For the journalist, Flamengo has a squad deep enough to rotate the team. He believes that Tite could have rotated more throughout the season to, at this point, have more players in ideal physical condition. Rizek cited the game against Grêmio as an example, where Mengão, even with a completely modified team, played good football despite the defeat.
“Flamengo has reached a point in the season where the team is so hurt , so tired... It's clear. You see Flamengo play, the team is dead. I would have done the same (save against Grêmio). Yesterday's game (Sunday, 22nd) is a sign that Flamengo could have rotated the squad a little more during the season. Flamengo's C team had a good performance against Grêmio", said the commentator.
Even two-time champion in 2019 and 2020, André Rizek criticized Flamengo for not fighting adequately for the Brasileirão in recent years. He argues that the team has a qualified and abundant squad to compete in both cups and the points championship, but has chosen to focus more on knockout competitions.
“Flamengo, with the squad that There is, it's a team to fight for the Brasileirão title every year and for four years, in this final stretch of the championship, it has been distant. In all these years, Flamengo has dealt with such a great sense of urgency in the cups that the Brazilian Championship is like this... it didn't work”, he assessed.
This season, Flamengo even led the Brasileirão for a few rounds, but stumbles, greatly influenced by the preservation and wear and tear of the players, ended up damaging Rubro-Negro's chances of remaining at the top of the table.
Mais Querido’s right-back arouses interest from two European teams
|
0The transfer market continues at full steam in Europe. Thus, three European clubs are watching Wesley, Flamengo's full-back. They are: Bournemouth (ING), Tottenham (ING), and Atalanta (ITA). Of all the interested teams, Mais Querido received an official proposal from two clubs, with the Italians' offer being the most recent.
According to information from journalist Venê Casagrande, Atalanta sent a proposal of 15 million euros (R $90 million) fixed + 5 million euros (R$30 million) in targets. However, the Italian team is willing to pay a fixed 16 million euros (R$96 million) + 4 million euros (R$24 million) in goals. Thus, Rubro-Negro speaks with the athlete's representatives to define the future.
OTHER CLUBS EYE ON WESLEYIn addition to Atalanta, Tottenham (ING) is also monitoring the situation by Wesley. This is because the English team has already sought information from Mais Querido about the player's current situation. However, Flamengo has not yet received an official proposal from the London team.
BOURNEMOUTH PROPOSAL AND CONTRACT RENEWALBefore Tottenham and Atalanta were interested in Wesley, Bournemouth ( ING) who had already tried to hire him. The English team offered 12 million euros (R$71.2 million) for the player at the beginning of July, but Mais Querido refused.
Thus, shortly after refusing the English team's proposal, Flamengo renewed Wesley's contract. Therefore, the right-back has a contract with Mais Querido until the end of 2028, with a considerable salary increase.
