The serious injury of Pedro surprised Flamengo. While available for the Brazilian national team, the striker suffered a rupture in the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. On Wednesday (04), The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) informed Flamengo about Pedro's injury. In an official statement, the entity also confirmed that the player would be released to continue treatment with the club.
"The Brazilian National Team's Medical Department contacted Flamengo reporting the injury. The athlete was recalled for continue treatment at his club. The CBF sympathizes with the athlete at this time and provides all support for his recovery", said an excerpt from the CBF note.

Flamengo is waiting for Pedro to introduce himself to the rest of the team this Thursday morning (05), at Ninho do Urubu. At the training center, Flamengo's Medical Department will re-evaluate the attacker and define the next steps of treatment.
Even so, the expectation is that Pedro will be sidelined until the end of the 2024 season and part of 2025, as this type of injury requires nine to 12 months to recover.
