Flamengo suffered its first setback in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship this Monday (8). After a promising start, Garotos do Ninho took the lead, but ended up conceding the turnaround to Botafogo and left Gávea with a bitter 3-2 against.
In the first minutes, Flamengo were superior, around Botafogo area frequently. The first goal gave the impression of an inspired afternoon for the Boys from the Nest. Lucas Vieira started the play in a masterful way, passing through the opponents' half and finding Ryan Roberto on the left side. The young promise of the base made a beautiful move and crossed for Luiz Phellipe to score. However, Botafogo equalized soon after.
Cauã Zappelini, from Botafogo, finished strongly with a free kick and beat goalkeeper Léo Nanetti, increasing the competitiveness of the match. Despite the balance, the game reached half-time with the score tied.
BOTAFOGO DOMINATION IN THE SECOND HALF
The second half presented a different scenario, with Botafogo dominating the actions. In the 14th minute, after mistakes by the red and black defense, full-back Kaique appeared as a surprise element in the area and scored the winning goal with his head. Botafogo's third goal came in the 20th minute, again from the top, this time with Waldemir extending the score. Flamengo still managed to reduce it to 3-2 in the final moments, but didn't have time to seek a draw.
IMPACT ON THE TABLE< /p>
With the defeat in the classic, Flamengo falls to fourth place, remaining with three points after the first two rounds. The team was overtaken by Goiás, which now has four points, and is at risk of losing more positions to Atlético-PR, América-MG and Grêmio, a trio that enters the field this Tuesday in the second round of the Brasileirão U17.
NEXT CHALLENGES
The Boys from the Nest will need to get back on their feet quickly for the next challenges in the competition. The coach must adjust the defense, which showed crucial flaws in the second half, and reinforce the attack to guarantee better results in the next matches.
