On Sunday night, Flamengo released an official note informing that striker Carlinhos, sent off at the start of the second half of the 3-2 defeat to Grêmio, he was the target of racial insults during the game.

"O Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Carlinhos suffered racial insults when leaving the field after being sent off in this Sunday's match (22), against Grêmio, in Porto Alegre.

The player says he heard monkey imitations and, in a video from an article on the vehicle “Lance!”, a voice can clearly be heard saying the word “monkey”.

Flamengo fully supports the athlete, repudiates what happened and awaits the CBF's position," the club wrote in an official statement.

On social media, Grêmio fans denied the accusation, stating that the term heard would be "ta bravinho" and not "monkey". Flamengo completed the third game in a row without winning, two matches for the Brasileirão. Thus, Mais Querido ended up in fourth place, with just 45 points. With yet another defeat this Sunday (22), this time to Grêmio, the red and black fans lost patience with Tite and went to Gávea and spray-painted the wall of the club's headquarters asking for the coach's departure.

The game against Grêmio this Sunday (22) ended around 8:30 pm and, as of 9:40 pm, the walls of Gávea were already covered in graffiti. Part of the fans asked for coach Tite to leave and threatened the athletes: “Salary up to date, shit missing” and “Tite out” were the words. ORGANIZED FANS SHOW SUPPORT TO THE PLAYERS

Although the Gávea wall was sprayed with graffiti, on the morning of this same Sunday (22), some fans of an organized party were at CT Ninho do Urubu to show support for the athletes who stayed in Rio .

The objective of some of the fans who went to the CT is to support the squad to seek classification against Peñarol, in Uruguay. Mais Querido needs a victory to dream of the Libertadores semi-finals.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT CONFRONTATION

Now, the Flamengo squad focuses on the big decision against Peñarol, in the Libertadores quarter-finals. Mais Querido returns to the field next Thursday (26), at 7pm, in Uruguay. Remembering that Rubro-Negro needs to reverse the 1-0 score to qualify for the semi-finals.

Next Thursday (26), Flamengo will go to Montevideo (URU), where they will face Peñarol in the second leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals. Having lost 1-0 at Maracanã, only the positive result interests Mais Querido. Even with the disadvantage, Diego Ribas believes in the red-black turnaround.

“Flamengo is alive. Now, he spared starters (against Grêmio, in the Brasileirão)… I believe he will arrive strong for this game. I still believe in Flamengo”, said Diego Ribas, during the broadcast of Vasco 0x1 Palmeiras, on TV Globo. The former Mais Querido player was a commentator for the match, alongside former Fla Paulo Nunes.

In addition to giving his opinion on the Mais Querido match, Diego Ribas also said he thinks Atlético-MG will manage to eliminate Fluminense. In the first match, the Laranjeiras team took the lead, winning 1-0.

FLAMENGO AT DISADVANTAGE

Flamengo ended up being defeated in the first match match against Peñarol. Therefore, Mais Querido will need to make it 2-0 if they don't want to take penalties, as a score of 1-0 would be a draw on aggregate. However, Rubro-Negro must pay attention, as a draw on a normal score means Peñarol will qualify.

A new case of racism in Brazilian football has brought to light one of the most delicate and persistent issues in society: racial prejudice. During the last game between Flamengoand Grêmio, held at the Arena do Grêmio, in Porto Alegre, the player Carlinhos, from Flamengo, was the target of racist insults by two fans of the opposing team. The incident, recorded on video and widely publicized on social media, generated great repercussion and indignation from fans, clubs and entities linked to football.

The incident occurred close to the access tunnel to the Arena's changing rooms. from Grêmio. In a video that circulates widely on the networks, it is possible to hear a man and a woman directing racist insults at Carlinhos, calling him a "little monkey", a term that is clearly racist. The recording quickly went viral, bringing to light once again the issue of racism in football stadiums, a problem that, unfortunately, still persists in many parts of the world, including Brazil.

UNTIL WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN?

The reactions were immediate. Flamengo issued an official note repudiating the act and demanding action from the competent authorities and the Grêmio board. The Rio Grande do Sul club also spoke out, stating that it repudiates any type of discrimination and would take the necessary measures to identify and punish those involved.

The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul, responsible for investigating the case, has already began investigations to identify the perpetrators of the offenses. Based on the images released, it is expected that those involved will be identified and held responsible for the crime of racial insult, as provided for in Brazilian legislation. The crime of racial insult is provided for in article 140 of the Brazilian Penal Code, with a penalty that can vary from one to three years in prison and a fine. In recent years, Brazilian justice has toughened its fight against this type of crime, especially in cases occurring at sporting events, where the exposure of acts of discrimination is amplified by the presence of fans, media and live broadcasts.

< In addition to the police investigation, both the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) must also comment on the case. In previous situations, the STJD has already applied severe punishments to clubs whose fans were caught committing acts of racism, including fines, loss of points and even games behind closed doors.
