After the draw in the Campeón del Siglo against Peñarol, Flamengo was eliminated from the Libertadores, marking two consecutive editions of the competition without achieving a victory away from home. The last time the red-black team won as a visitor was in the 2022 Libertadores semi-final, when they defeated Vélez 4-0.

Since that triumph, which took place on August 31, 2022 , Flamengo played nine away matches in the Libertadores and failed to win any of them. The opponents faced were Aucas, Racing, Ñublense, Olimpia, Millonarios, Bolívar (twice), Palestino and Peñarol.

One of the most memorable moments of that 2022 Libertadores campaign, which culminated with the title for Mengão, was the victory over Vélez in Buenos Aires. With a hat-trick from Pedro, who was elected King of America that year, and a goal from Everton Ribeiro, the brilliant performance practically guaranteed Rubro-Negro's place in the final, which was also won in the return game, at Maracanã. , 2-1.

Despite the drought, Flamengo maintains good numbers in the Libertadores as a visitor

Although they haven't won away from home in some time in the Libertadores , Flamengo has a positive record as a visitor in the competition. In 88 games played away, Rubro-Negro recorded 34 wins, 24 draws and 31 defeats.

Between 2020 and 2023, Flamengo went on to boast an impressive run of 14 consecutive games without losing away from home, until being defeated by Aucas in the group stage of the last edition.

Flamengo's 1-0 defeat to Peñarol (URU), in the first game of the Libertadores quarter-finals, was a hard blow for the red and black fans. Dissatisfied with the team's recent performance, many lost patience and started a campaign calling for Tite to be fired. Furthermore, with the coach's possible departure, part of the fans are already suggesting a name to replace him. And it's not Jorge Jesus.

Recently fired by Al-Nassr, in Saudi Arabia, Luís Castro is seen by some fans as the ideal successor for the position of coach. On social media, the red and black highlights the fact that the Portuguese coach is available on the market.

Luís Castro leaves Al-Nassr

Under pressure Due to poor results at the start of the Saudi season, Luís Castro was released by Al-Nassr, the team he had led for 14 months. The coach, who also had a spell at Botafogo, left Cristiano Ronaldo's team after a series of negative results.

The coach's situation has worsened in recent weeks, especially after the 4-1 defeat for rival Al-Hilal, owned by Jorge Jesus, in the final of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup. After this setback, Al-Nassr only managed one victory and three draws, which culminated in his dismissal.

Flamengo management maintains confidence in Tite

Flamengo's board does not intend to fire Tite before the return clash against Peñarol in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores. However, the result in Uruguay could influence the coach's future.

This Friday (20), a meeting is scheduled between the red-black board and Tite, with the aim of analyzing the defeat in the Maracanã and discuss strategies to reverse the score in the second leg. Flamengo's management hopes to find solutions to guarantee classification away from home.
