During the program “Olho no Lance”, broadcast by RubroNewsTV, it was revealed that Flamengoreopened negotiations to bring back striker Michael, who currently plays for Al -Hilal, from Saudi Arabia. The news moved behind the scenes of Brazilian football, considering the impact that Michael had during his first spell at the Rio club.
Michael, who still has two commitments to fulfill at Al-Hilal, will be free to negotiate with others clubs from August 17th. This release will occur after the player and his agent conclude the contractual termination with the Arab club. The expectation is that, with this rupture, the path will be clear for the attacker's return to Flamengo.
Even with the financial demands considered high, the Flamengo is confident in the success of the negotiation. The club's confidence is based on the good relationship that has been maintained with Michael since his departure to Arab football. This bond is seen as a determining factor for the attacker to choose to return to Flamengo, where he had a great time and won over the fans.
The negotiation still involves delicate aspects, such as the value of the termination and the salary that Michael will receive it if he agrees to return to Brazilian football. Even so, the parties involved seem willing to find a common denominator that is beneficial for both the player and Flamengo. Michael's possible return to Flamengo is seen as an opportunity for the club to reinforce its squad and increase its chances in important competitions, such as the Brazilian Championship and Copa Libertadores. Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."

At 37 years old, goalkeeper Paulo Victor was announced last Friday (13) as a new reinforcement of Al-Rayyan, from Qatar. Previously, he played for Al-Ettifaq, in Saudi Arabia, where striker Vitinho also plays. Hired last week, Paulo Victor has already made his debut by saving a penalty in the Asian Champions League. In the match against Al-Hilal, led by Jorge Jesus, Paulo Victor saved Serbian striker Mitrovic's shot, but were unable to prevent Al-Rayyan's 3-1 defeat. The game took place on Tuesday afternoon (17), at 1 pm (Brasília time). The former Flamengo goalkeeper's contract with the Qatari team runs until the end of next season. Before his time in Saudi football, PV also had a spell at Marítimo, in Portugal.
Paulo Victor arrived against Flamengo at the age of 17, in 2004. He remained at the base until 2009, during which time he was the fourth goalkeeper in the red squad -black in winning the Brazilian Championship. In 2010, he was loaned to América-RJ and, upon returning to Mais Querido, he began to have more opportunities in 2012.
From 2012 to 2016, Paulo Victor was a starter at various times, but lost space with the arrival of Alex Muralha. During his time at Grêmio, where he arrived in 2017, he only took over as a starter in the 2019 season. That year, he became a hero by saving three penalties in the Gaúchão final against Internacional, although he was also the goalkeeper who conceded the five goals in the 5-0 defeat to Flamengo in the Libertadores.
