Flamengo was highlighted as the club with the most expensive squad in all of America, according to a recent study by the CIES Football Observatory, released this Wednesday (04). The Rio club disbursed a total of 208 million euros, approximately R$1.3 billion, in player transfers, including amounts spent on loans and extras. This value places Flamengo in 43rd position among the most expensive squads in the world.

OTHER BRAZILIAN CLUBS IN THE WORLD RANKING

In addition to Flamengo, other Brazilian clubs also appear in the world rankings. Botafogo occupies 82nd position, having invested around 85 million euros (R$530 million) to assemble its current squad.

Palmeiras, with an expenditure of 77 million euros (R$ 480 million), is in 86th position globally. These numbers highlight the financial strength of Brazilian football on the international stage, with clubs investing heavily to compete in both local tournaments and international competitions.

HIGHLIGHT FOR MEXICAN AND ARGENTINE CLUBS

In America, in addition to Flamengo and Botafogo, Tigres do México appears as the second most spending club in the region, with 103 million euros (R$ 642 million) invested in its cast.

Other Latin American clubs on the list include River Plate, from Argentina, and three other Mexican clubs: Monterrey, Cruz Azul and América. This data reinforces the growing competitiveness of Mexican and Argentine football in terms of investment in signings.

CHELSEA IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE CLUB IN THE WORLD

On the global stage, Chelsea, from England, leads the ranking with an impressive 1.26 billion euros (almost R$10 billion) spent on transfers. The London club is followed by Manchester United, with 1.03 billion euros, and Manchester City, with 1.01 billion euros.

Among the top ten clubs on the list, seven are from the English Premier League, highlighting the financial dominance of English clubs in world football. Paris Saint-Germain, in sixth place, is the first club outside England to appear in the ranking, followed by giants such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Juventus.

Rodrigo Tostes, countered the official note released by Flamengo about the partnership between the clubs. In a direct and blunt statement, Tostes classified the red-black statement as "fake news" and questioned the transparency of the mentioned project. In Flamengo's note, the Rio club had detailed its intention to establish a collaboration with Leixões, a smaller Portuguese club, with a focus on sharing strategies and strengthening international relations.

The proposal was that Flamengo would offer support and exchange of knowledge for the development of both clubs. However, Tostes claimed that the content of the note did not reflect reality and that there was no concrete information about the project. According to Tostes, Flamengo did not present clear details about what was actually being proposed. “The project will become clear when they present something, right? We don't know anything. Unfortunately, we are in a world of narratives”, stated the Leixões representative. For him, Flamengo did not offer sufficient evidence to justify the partnership and left out important aspects of the agreement.

FLAMENGO HAS AN IMPASSE IN NEGOTIATIONS

The disagreement between the parties comes at a time when the relationship between international and Brazilian clubs has been increasingly common. Partnerships such as the proposal between Flamengo < /a>and Leixões are seen as a way to expand the presence and impact of clubs outside their countries of origin. However, for these agreements to be effective and beneficial, transparency and fulfillment of promises are essential.

Tostes' response reflects a growing concern about the veracity of information released by clubs and sporting entities. In a scenario where narratives often gain more prominence than facts, the need to clarify the truth becomes even more pressing. The case between Flamengo and Leixões is a clear example of the tensions that can arise when expectations are not aligned and communications are not transparent.

Don't forget Flamengo! John Textor mocks financial fair play and talks about the price of the Rubro-Negro shirt

The owner of SAF Botafogo spoke about Mais Querido again on his social networks

The Brazilian calendar is on pause due to the FIFA Date. However, John Textor couldn't contain himself and spoke about Flamengo again this Sunday (8) on his social networks. The main shareholder of SAF Botafogo mocked Rubro-Negro's interest in implementing financial fair play.

On his social networks, Textor used an old photo of a mannequin wearing a Flamengo shirt and a Botafogo cap in a Mais Querido store: “Old photo, new meaning: Flamengo shirt R$349, Flamengo pants R$229. Blue cap with 'Gringo' gift logo (R$0)… Botafogo's financial fair play” , he wrote.

TEXTOR HAD ALREADY MENTIONED FLAMENGO DURING THE WEEK

It is worth remembering that John Textor had already mentioned Flamengo on Wednesday (4) . On the occasion, the North American spoke about Mais Querido during a press conference.

"When people say that Eagle (Textor's company) spends a lot more money than Flamengo and Palmeiras, of course we did We had to build a squad from nothing. We had to return to Serie A and be competitive, we had four weeks to build a squad with 27 players and escape relegation. , and the contract required us to do exactly what is being done", said Textor at the time.

DEBATE ON FINANCIAL FAIR PLAY

President Rodolfo Landim expressed discomfort with Botafogo's high investment in 2023. At the time, Mais Querido's representative highlighted that the rival team invested around 75 million euros (R$450 million). Thus, the value exceeds the revenue of General Severiano's team for the year, which was R$ 322 million.

Last week, the Club Commission met at the CBF headquarters to discuss a possible implementation of the financial fair play in Brazilian football. However, conversations are still at an early stage.
