The Flamengo, a one of the most traditional and successful clubs in Brazilian football, has faced significant defensive difficulties in this year's Brazilian Championship. So far, the Rio team has conceded 20 goals in the competition. A fact that draws attention is that 11 of these goals, which represents 55%, were due to dead balls, mainly from corner kicks.

Flamengo's fragility in dead ball situations became even more evident in the recent match against São Paulo, which took place last Saturday (3), at the Morumbi stadium. During the game, Argentine striker Calleri managed to score a goal from a corner kick. The image of the moment of the goal went viral on social media, showing the entire Flamengo team positioned in the defensive area, but unable to prevent Calleri from going up alone to head the ball and find the net. p>

The defensive failure of Flamengo< /a> in Calleri's goal exposed a recurring problem: the marking of set pieces. The ease with which the Argentine striker was able to position himself and finish unmarked raised concerns among fans and the coaching staff. This type of error has been repeated throughout the competition, compromising the team's performance.

Goals conceded from set pieces have directly impacted the results of Flamengo's matches. The team has been missing important points, which could compromise its chances of achieving the goals set for the season. Every goal conceded in this way is a blow to the team's morale and a missed opportunity to score.

Check it out:
