Last Friday (06), the Brazilian team beat Ecuador 1-0, in a match held at the Couto Pereira stadium, valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The goal that guaranteed the three points was scored by Rodrygo, in the second half, after an assist from Lucas Paquetá. The result was essential to interrupt a negative sequence of three consecutive defeats and alleviated the pressure on the team led by Dorival Júnior.

Among those called up for the match was midfielder Gerson, a Flamengo, who started on the bench from reserves and entered the field during the second half. Gerson played for around 30 minutes and, although he had little time to make a big impact, his statistics reveal a safe participation. According to the statistics website 'SofaScore', the Flamengohad 14 touches of the ball and had an 86% pass rate, completing 12 attempts. Furthermore, the player suffered a foul and managed to make a long pass during the period in which he was on the field.

FLAMENGO HAS NEW GUIDELINES FOR CALL-UPS

However, Gerson was unable to contribute defensively during his participation. Despite his experience and technical quality, the Flamengo midfielder spent the 30 minutes without taking any defensive actions. This, however, did not compromise the team's overall performance, which managed to hold on to a slim victory against Ecuador.

The match also featured the presence of other players revealed by Flamengo. Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Paquetá, both trained in the Rio club's youth categories, started as starters. Paquetá even played a decisive role in assisting Rodrygo's goal, which determined the final score of the match. The participation of Flamengo's former youngsters demonstrates the relevance of the players trained by the club in the recent call-ups of the Brazilian National Team.
