Without being able to count on Pedro until the end of the 2025 Carioca Championship, Flamengo is looking for a free center forward on the market to reinforce the squad. Among the names considered, Dutchman Memphis Depay appears as an alternative. The club intends to hold a videoconference meeting with the striker soon, but competition with European clubs is fierce. The information is from the RTI Esporte portal.

According to the publication, Olympiacos, from Greece, has already made contact with the 29-year-old player's staff. Furthermore, Milan (Italy) and Monaco (France) are also keeping an eye on the athlete's situation. Memphis Depay has been without a club since leaving Atlético de Madrid in July. In Brazil, Corinthians would also be interested in signing the striker.

Currently, Flamengo has Gabigol and Carlinhos for the attacking sector. Gabigol is recovering from a thigh injury and should be available to Tite for the clash against Bahia in the Copa do Brasil. However, Carlinhos, who played for Nova Iguaçu in the Copa do Brasil, can only play in the Brasileirão and Libertadores for Flamengo. Pedro's injury generated great internal concern at the club.

Another name that appears as an option is the Frenchman Anthony Martial, 28 years old, ex-Manchester United. Flamengo is racing against time to reinforce the squad.

Memphis Depay's career

Revealed by PSV, Depay has already played for big clubs like Manchester United, Lyon, Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid. He participated in three World Cups for the Dutch national team and won titles such as the Dutch League, Dutch Cup, Dutch Super Cup, FA Cup, Spanish Super Cup and La Liga. If he moves to Flamengo, it will be the first time that Memphis Depay will play outside of Europe.

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.

According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.

Eduardo Paes guarantees that the removal is the responsibility of Rio's city hall.

Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.

After Pedro's serious injury, Flamengo began negotiations to sign striker Anthony Martial. However, the talks did not progress, and the French player is close to signing a contract with AEK Athens, from Greece.

According to information from journalist Matteo Moretto, transfer specialist, Anthony Martial reached a verbal agreement with the Greek club. However, there are still some pending issues, but these are just details of the contract. Thus, AEK Athens is the most likely destination for the striker, who is out of contract.

NEGOTIATIONS WITH FLAMENGO

Anthony was offered to Mais Querido by his agents since February this year, when he still had a contract with Manchester United. However, after Pedro's serious injury, the agents once again made the player's name available to Rubro-Negro.

However, Mais Querido opened negotiations, but did not accept the demands of Anthony's agents Martial. This is because the representatives demanded more than R$2 million in salaries, in addition to gloves. Finally, a three-year contract was requested for the athlete, but Flamengo did not accept the terms.

REPLACEMENT FOR PEDRO

Flamengo will have to play the remainder of the season without Pedro, who suffered a ruptured ligament in his left knee while training with the Brazilian team. Thus, the red-black board defined that Carlinhos and Gabigol are the viable options for the number 9's place.
