Flamengo became Rio de Janeiro champions of 2024 by beating Nova Iguaçu 1-0 this Sunday, the 7th , in the second leg of the Carioca Championship final. The title goal was scored by Bruno Henrique, in a match played at Maracanã, without conceding a goal.
Rubro-Negro achieved this feat after not conceding a goal from the Baixada team. With this achievement, the Gávea club became the best defense in the history of the Campeonato Carioca, surpassing the achievement of Fluminense in 1911. On that occasion, the Rio de Janeiro Tricolor conceded just one goal in six games played, resulting in an incredible average of 0. 16 goals per match.
The Flamengo, in turn, also had a solid defense throughout the competition, conceding just one goal in 14 matches. Not being leaked on Sunday, they will end the championship with an impressive average of 0.06 goals conceded per game.
