This last Saturday (8), Flamengo under-20 debuted in the Campeonato Carioca on the right foot. This is because Mais Querido, led by Mário Jorge, who could leave the club to take over the under-17 team in Saudi Arabia, beat Madureira away from home by 2-1.

Before the ball rolled, Mário Jorge conceded a interview with FlaTV, where he confirmed that he will be leaving Flamengo: “Today is possibly my last game at the club. We have already secured a place in the Libertadores for 2025 and in the World Cup now in August, and we also achieved it in Carioca, which gives us a place in the Copa do Brasil in 2025.”

MATCH SUMMARY

The game started off busy, but it was Madureira who took the lead. In the 13th minute, Zaru opened the scoring for the home team. However, Mais Querido reacted in the final stretch of the initial stage. That's because Victor Silva left everything the same at 33'. Felipe Teresa turned the match around for Rubro-Negro at 441.

FLAMENGO SITUATION

With the victory, Mais Querido won the three points and now shares the lead with Vasco, who also won by the same score. Furthermore, Rubro-Negro now has four unbeaten matches, including the category's Brasileirão.

Flamengo defeated Botafogo 2-1 in a match valid for the 19th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The clash, held this Wednesday, July 24th, featured young Lorran, who scored one of the goals of the red-black comeback.

FIRST HALF BUSY

The first half was marked by an intense and disputed game. Early on, Fabiano opened the scoring for Botafogo in a quick counterattack. From then on, the opponent adopted a more defensive posture, making Flamengo's attacks difficult. The Gávea team tried to react with Shola and Lorran, but found it difficult to overcome the rival defense and goalkeeper Cristiano Júnior.

Despite being set back, Botafogo did not fail to create opportunities and forced goalkeeper Dyogo Alves to make good defenses. The first half of the game ended with the score in favor of the black and white team.

SECOND HALF: FLAMENGO'S TURNOVER

After the break, Flamengo returned more organized and determined. Coach Filipe Luís adjusted the strategy, focusing on Lorran's offensive plays. In the 9th minute, the young striker started at speed, dribbled past two markers and finished with precision, tying the game.

Flamengo continued to press and, in a rehearsed move, Zé Welinton scored the turning goal. The full-back executed a perfect free kick, sending the ball into the left corner of the opponent's goal, repeating the feat from the last meeting between the teams.

LOOKS ATTENTIONS OF THE U-20 SELECTION

Lorran's outstanding performance caught the attention of the coach of the Brazilian U-20 team, Ramon Menezes, who was present at the stadium. Lorran, who had already been called up to the national team, should continue to be one of Menezes' bets. Another player who has also been on the coach's list is midfielder Rayan Lucas.

CLASSIFICATION AND NEXT STEPS

With the victory, Flamengo reaches 23 points and remains in seventh place in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The team guarantees a place in the classification zone (G8) and is now hoping for Santos and Ceará to stumble to climb the table.

After being removed from the list of related players for the clash against Vitória, in the professional Brasileirão, Lorran will reinforce the under-20 team in the classic against Botafogo in the category competition this Wednesday (24).

According to information from the FlaZoeiro profile, the young man should enter the field alongside Shola this Wednesday afternoon (24), against Botafogo, at 3pm, in Gávea. Flamengo led by Filipe Luís, occupies seventh place, with 22 points in the under-20 Brasileirão and will try to remain among the top eight to qualify for the knockout stage.

NEGOTIATIONS THE RENEWAL REMAINS DIFFICULT

At the beginning of July, Lorran turned 18. In this way, Mais Querido was able to offer a longer contract for the young man. However, conversations between Rubro-Negro and the midfielder's representatives remain difficult. According to information from journalist Venê Casagrande, it is certain that the new agreement will not be signed this week. This is because Flamengo wants a commitment until 2029, increasing the termination fine, which is currently 50 million euros (R$ 296.5 million).

Lorran was Arrascaeta's immediate replacement at Flamengoduring the Copa América period. The young midfielder was one of the highlights of Mais Querido, but later ended up losing his production and was even booed by the fans at Maracanã. Thus, the player has trained normally with the professional squad but has been left out of the related lists.

Lorran has played 12 matches for Mais Querido in the Brasileirão so far, with one goal scored and one assist, being one of the youngest players to stand out in professional competition.

The strategy of using different players has been successful, guaranteeing freshness and competitiveness to the team.

To date, Flamengo has accumulated victories against Madureira (2× 1), Boavista (6×0), Audax Rio (3×1) and Portuguesa do Rio (3×2). On the other hand, Bangu faces a complicated moment in the championship. After winning the first two rounds, the team suffered two consecutive defeats, including a five-nil defeat against Botafogo. This retrospective puts Bangu in a challenging situation for this weekend's game. Flamengo, on the other hand, seeks to take advantage of the opponent's difficult phase to maintain its winning streak.
