Flamengo started its participation in the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, the Copinha, on the right foot, beating São José-RS 2-1 last Friday (05). However, the victory was marked by the painful exit of defender Darlan, who left the field with knee pain and has already returned to Rio de Janeiro for treatment. The news was not encouraging for the young defender, who used social media this Saturday (06) to inform about his situation.
"In light of everything that is happening, I inform you that I have been diagnosed with an injury and that I am I've been away from the field for a while! I want to thank everyone who is sending me messages of support and helping me through this difficult time. My focus now is on recovering to come back stronger!", shared Darlan on his Instagram profile.
CUT: JOÃO VICTOR CUNHA ENTERS THE SCENE
With the absence of Darlan, born in 2004, coach Mário Jorge opted to call up João Victor Cunha, a young man from 2007, who had already received praise from the coach in an exclusive interview with Coluna do Fla before the team traveled to São Paulo. The replacement was made official this Saturday (06), when Flamengo announced the departure of number 4 from the delegation.
In a statement, the club said: "The athlete Darlan suffered an injury to his left knee in his debut match of Flamengo at Copinha, last Friday. After preliminary exams, in São Paulo, the defender returns to Rio de Janeiro for further exams and further treatment. Athlete João Victor Cunha is part of the squad for the remainder of the competition." p>
NEXT CHALLENGE AND THE HOPE OF CLASSIFICATION
Without Darlan, Flamengo will face São Bento de Sorocaba-SP next Monday (08), at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), in Osasco. The absence of the starting defender represents a challenge for the team, which is looking not only for victory, but also the possibility of guaranteeing early classification in Group 19. The outcome of the group stage will also depend on the confrontation between Audax-SP and São José, scheduled for the same day, at 6:15 pm (Brasília time).
The Copinha, a traditional grassroots tournament, is a fertile ground for the emergence of talents, and Flamengo, even in the face of adversity, seeks to consolidate its trajectory in the competition, counting on the warrior spirit of the Garotos do Ninho. The fans eagerly await more emotions and achievements in this important grassroots championship.

Despite his short career as a professional coach, Filipe Luís continues to attract attention from around the world for his work at Flamengo. Last week, Fenerbahçe (TUR) attempted to sign him , but both the Rio de Janeiro club and the manager rejected the offer .
José Boto on Fenerbahçe's proposal for Flamengo's Filipe Luís: "this is not a bank"
In an interview with UOL, football director José Boto revealed the behind-the-scenes story behind the Turkish move: "Last week, he had the option of leaving the club. I know this because the president of Fenerbahçe called me asking how much money Flamengo wanted to release Filipe Luís . I replied that this isn't a bank. We had no intention of selling him. The club even offered more than the contractual fine, but he didn't want to go. He didn't want to abandon this project."
With negotiations unsuccessful, Fenerbahçe looked at other options. After José Mourinho's departure on August 29, the Turkish club explored several options, including Filipe Luís , but ultimately agreed on Domenico Tedesco last week . Thus, the red-and-black fans can breathe a sigh of relief at the prospect of a new European push.
Filipe Luís is about to complete a year in charge of Flamengo . The coach took over the team on September 30, 2024, after Tite's dismissal, and has since collected titles: Copa do Brasil, Campeonato Carioca, and Supercopa do Brasil . The coach has played 65 games, with 43 wins, 16 draws, and only six losses, consolidating one of the club's most consistent campaigns in recent years.
Flamengo, under the command of Filipe Luís, begins this Thursday (18) the dispute of the quarterfinals of the Libertadores against Estudiantes (ARG) . The match takes place at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, with broadcast by ESPN (closed TV) and Disney+ (streaming).
