Next Saturday, the 10th, Flamengo will face Volta Redonda at 4pm, in a delayed match in the third round of the Campeonato Carioca. With the expectation of a large number of red and black fans at Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro City Hall announced a special traffic scheme around the stadium.


The match is scheduled to start at 4pm and, aiming to guarantee the best attendance to the event, CET-Rio will close roads around the stadium two and a half hours in advance, at 1:30 pm. Important streets in the region, such as Prof. Eurico Rabello, Avenida Rei Pelé and Avenida Maracanã will be closed. After the end of the game, at 5:30 pm, Dona Zulmira and Manoel de Abreu streets will also be closed.


According to Rio City Hall, there will be traffic monitoring, and traffic light times will be adjusted to improve fluidity. Furthermore, as it is a game with public involvement, the traffic operation will have 35 agents, five operational vehicles and eight motorcycles, in addition to 10 panels with messages about closure times and alternative routes.

Also according to the statement, vehicle access for residents surrounding Maracanã will only be via Av. Paula Sousa and Rua Prof. Eurico Rabelo with proof of residence.
