Arthroscopy is often used in these cases, as it allows direct treatment of the affected area, with less risk of complications compared to more invasive surgeries.
According to information from the specialized website Trivela, the recovery time for this type of injury is around six to eight weeks. This period includes both post-surgical healing and rehabilitation, which is essential for the player to be able to resume his activities on the field safely and without risk of a new injury.
Osteochondral injuries are characterized by damage in the cartilage and underlying bone, usually caused by repetitive impacts or a sudden twist that puts stress on the joint. In the case of Luiz Araújo, the injury occurred in the right knee, which is one of the most affected joints in football players due to constant physical demands, jumping and sudden changes in direction.
