Gabigol made his departure from Flamengo after scoring his last goal with the shirt rubro-negrain the 2-2 draw against Vitória, this Sunday (8), at Maracanã. After the game, the attacker spoke to the press, stating that there is no chance of reversing his decision.

The number 10, who became one of the club's greatest idols, harshly criticized the board's lack of word regarding his contract renewal. “I have my say, unlike other people. My parents raised me as a man, and the most honorable thing for a man is to have a word. They didn’t have a word with me, but my word is kept, I won’t stay”, declared the attacker.

RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FANS AND EXCITING FAREWELL

Gabigol he also highlighted his affection for the fans, highlighting that he always played with the club's fans in mind. “What matters to me is the fans. I always played for them and tried to show that I wanted to be one of them on the field. It was love at first sight from the first day I stepped into Maracanã”, said the player.

The striker ends his career with the Mais Querido with unforgettable moments and a strong connection with the fans. In 2023, the club offered a five-year contract, but backed down due to the drop in performance, which generated discontent between Gabriel and his team.

NEW DESTINATION: AGREEMENT WITH O CRUZEIRO

With his departure from CRF confirmed, Gabigol's destiny seems to be Cruzeiro. There is already a verbal agreement between the striker and the Minas Gerais club, which should be made official soon for the 2024 season.

Flamengo announced this Monday (18) Betano as its new master sponsor . The contract, valid for three years, is the largest ever signed by a Brazilian club and places the Rubro-Negro among the ten highest paid in the world . The agreement provides for around R$268 million per season for the brand's exposure on the uniform.

The amount is more than double the previous contract with Pixbet, which generated R$115 million annually. With this, Flamengo further widens the gap with its rivals in the national scenario : the second-largest master sponsorship in Brazil, Corinthians' with Esporte da Sorte, is worth R$103 million, or R$165 million less than Flamengo's.

RANKING OF THE LARGEST SPONSORSHIPS IN THE WORLD
  1. Real Madrid (ESP) – Emirates: €70 million (R$443 million)
  2. Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) – Qatar Airways: €65 million (R$411 million)
  3. Barcelona (ESP) – Spotify: €57.5 million (R$365 million)
  4. Manchester City (ENG) – Etihad Airways: €55 million (R$349 million)
  5. Manchester United (ENG) – TeamViewer: €55 million (R$349 million)
  6. Liverpool (ING) – Standard Chartered: €53.5 million (R$340 million)
  7. Juventus (ITA) – Jeep: €51 million (R$324 million)
  8. Bayern Munich (GER) – T-Mobile: €50 million (R$ 317 million)
  9. Arsenal (ENG) – Emirates: €45 million (R$286 million)
  10. Flamengo (BRA) – Betano: €42 million (R$268 million)

The red-black contract exceeds, for example, that of Ajax (HOL) with Ziggo, which pays only €8 million (around R$51 million).

HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP

The deal with Betano also includes performance targets that could boost the club's profits . The deal reinforces Flamengo's status as a leading brand in South American football and demonstrates the commercial growth potential of clubs in the region.

Rodrigo Muniz's goalscoring form in England is starting to stir up activity in the European market . The former Flamengo player has become Atalanta's target, and a potential transfer has Fulham looking for replacements. Their main target is Rasmus Hojlund, currently on the decline at Manchester United .

According to The Independent, the Dane lost his place after the arrival of coach Rúben Amorim and saw competition increase with the signing of Benjamin Sesko , bought for around €80 million. Signed from Atalanta for £72 million, Hojlund didn't perform as expected: he scored just 14 goals in 62 Premier League games. United are now reportedly willing to sell him for £40 million.

MUNIZ IS HAVING HIS BEST MOMENT IN EUROPE

Atalanta could offer a similar amount for Muniz. The Flamengo -born striker has had two consistent seasons at Fulham, scoring 17 Premier League goals . Last Saturday (16), he was decisive when he scored in stoppage time against Brighton, securing a draw in the season opener.

CASCADE EFFECT IN THE MARKET

If the sale goes through, Fulham will have the cash to invest heavily in a new number 9 , and Hojlund emerges as the main option. For United, the deal would represent a chance to reduce the financial losses associated with the player.

The next few days of the transfer window promise to be decisive for Fulham, Atalanta, Manchester United, and for Rodrigo Muniz, who could begin a new chapter in his career in Serie A. While negotiations are still pending, the youngster is preparing for the second round of the Premier League, when the Cottagers face Manchester United.
