Striker Gabigol will undergo an examination this Tuesday. The objective is to assess whether there was another muscle injury to his thigh, as he left the game against Vasco feeling pain. The clinical evaluation will be carried out with an eye on the match against Peñarol, on Thursday (19), in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores.

The technical committee wants to know to what extent they can count on Gabigol at the moment, for more so that he was not the first option for the attack — even with Pedro's serious injury.

Against Vasco, it was possible to notice Gabigol's discomfort moments after he entered the field, in the second time, when trying to take off from the right wing. The exam will try to determine the player's level of discomfort.

Last week, Gabigol was again listed after suffering a muscle injury to his right thigh. Before the classic against Vasco, the striker had already entered the final minutes against Bahia, in the Copa do Brasil.

Without Pedro, Tite has used Bruno Henrique as a center forward. Against Vasco, he preferred Carlinhos as an immediate substitute. Gabigol has played more of an Arrascaeta role or as a midfielder/second striker.

In the last press conference, Tite explained why he has preferred other attackers to Gabigol in the starting lineup. "Training. Games. Specifically. Carlinhos decisive against Bolívar, against Atlético-MG, with a goal, decisive against Vitória. That was why this option. Added to this, BH decisive against Bahia with a goal, decisive against Bahia with assist. We scored the goal with Carlinhos on the field. And Carlinhos' performance in the other games, that's what made me decide", said the coach.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Following is the Red and Black lineup:Rossi, Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro; Pulgar, De la Cruz, Gerson and Arrascaeta; Plata and Bruno Henrique.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. Check it out:

"The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
