That the news about Pedro's injury is terrible, everyone already knows. But if there is anyone who can take advantage of this to try to turn things around, it is Gabigol. Without the top scorer, the Nation longs for a new goalscorer, and the beginning of that story could happen against Bahia, on Thursday night (12), at Maracanã, in the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil.

< In this competition, in fact, Gabigol is one of the great names in history. Not for the 2022 title or for raising the crowd and starting a reaction in the penalties against Corinthians, but for the great numbers added in the tournament. Camisa 99 is in the Top 3 of the Brazilian Cup's top scorers, scoring 30 goals in the competition.

A reaction in his season could culminate in another record, becoming the best scorer in the Brazilian Cup. For that, there are seven goals left to equal with Fred. Second place is Romário, with 36 goals, and Gabi could surpass these names if the dream comeback comes to fruition.

When it comes to such an important player, with so many records and good statistics, it's not It's another world to think that the idol could reach the top of the artillery this season. If Mengão reaches the final, there will be six Copa do Brasil games, including Bahia, until the end of the year. Enough time for Gabigol to maintain a good average and score at least one goal per game to match Romário. If you manage to be better than that, you equal or even surpass Fred.

Gabigol returning due to injury

This week, Gabigol returned to training and became a possibility for Tite's attack, and will continue to do so until the end of the year, as Pedro only returns next year. It is worth remembering that Gabigol has a contract until December and has not yet renewed with the club. Corinthians maintains interest in the player, whose future is still undefined.
Flamengo x Bahia will be the first game after the FIFA Data, but also Gabigol's first after recovering from a muscle problem in his thigh. The player left the field in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores, against Bolívar, and had to take a forced break.

In the match against Peñarol, Rubro-Negro will have the return of Arrascaeta in the starting lineup. Fla's number 14 started on the bench against Vasco, but replaced Luiz Araújo, who was injured. Meanwhile, De La Cruz also returns to the starting 11 after recovering from injury. Finally, Gonzalo Plata and Alex Sandro had good performances against Vasco and should be kept for the match.

PEÑAROL ENDS PREPARATION
