After six seasons, Gabigol plays Flamengo's farewell game in this Sunday (08). The red-and-black idol will leave the club after turbulent negotiations with the board and amid unresolved friction with president Rodolfo Landim.
Gabigol and Landim reached the final stretch of 2024 without harmony. This is because Flamengo's president took over negotiations with the attacker in 2023. Before the director, the person in charge of the conversations was Marcos Braz. The football vice-president even agreed to renew the striker, with congratulations and congratulations on the agreement.
How Landim took the decision ahead of the negotiations and barred the renewal in the pre-agreed terms of five years and considerable salary increase, the relationship changed its status. In this way, Gabigol and the club president began to have long conversations with very different views on the extension of the bond.

Gabigol's first proposal: five-year contract
Flamengo's counter-proposal: one year contract
Gabigol's counter-proposal: three-year contract
GABIGOL natural path for a player with recent idol status at the club. Therefore, the attacker felt disrespected by the board with the sudden change in stance.
— < i>I'm not staying at Flamengo. In recent years there were negotiations, the president, the board, shook my hand, my father's, my mother's, and then things happened that I really didn't like. I always found out about things through the podcast (referring to Landim's interviews on podcasts), never in person — revealed Gabigol, in an interview with Globo shortly after winning the 2024 Copa do Brasil.
On the other hand, Rodolfo Landim claims that Gabigol's performance in the last two years is below par. Therefore, the athlete's bad phase is the main reason for the counter-proposal to be for just one more season.

— The point that proves that we believe in Gabigol's recovery capacity is We made a proposal for the amount he requested, but for one year. It's not Flamengo that doesn't believe. I don't know if it's Flamengo who doesn't believe or if it's Flamengo who doesn't believe in him. Because if he wants to stay at Flamengo and he believes in his football, why doesn't he accept this one year and then he continues? — said Landim, in an interview with Flow Podcast, November this year.
WITHOUT AGREEMENT WITH FLAMENGO, GABIGOL PREPARES TO PLAY IN CRUZEIRO
