In 2023, renowned striker Gabigol faces a season at Flamengo that deviates from the standards of excellence that made him an icon of the club.

0The year 2023 brought unexpected challenges for Gabigol at Flamengo, putting his skill and performance on the field to the test. A season that, so far, stands out for numbers that contrast with the usual brilliance of the red-and-black top scorer. In the last four months, Gabigol was on the field on 21 occasions, but his presence did not translate into the impressive numbers to which the fans they are used to it.
With only two goals scored, the striker is far from his usual average, revealing a rare phase of scarcity in the opponent's nets. Gabigol's contribution was not limited to just the goals. With a single assist recorded, the player was unable to replicate the impact he usually has in creating decisive plays. This aspect, often crucial to Flamengo's offensive dynamics, has been less prominent, leaving a gap in the construction of plays.
In addition, discipline on the field has been a challenge for Gabigol this season. With four yellow cards accumulated, the striker has faced difficulties in balancing his intensity with the need to avoid suspensions that harm the team. Two red cards complete the picture, highlighting the aggressiveness that, at times, exceeded acceptable limits.
It is important to emphasize that these numbers should not be interpreted as a diminution of Gabigol's undeniable talent. All athletes face ups and downs, and the road to recovery can be winding. Pressure and high expectations can impact the performance of any player, even the most talented. Flamengo fans, known for their unconditional support, understand that Gabigol is a fundamental player in the team's tactical scheme and success. However, it is inevitable to question what could be contributing to the attacker's less brilliant moment.
Injuries, physical wear and tear or even off-field factors can influence a football player's performance. Taking care of your health, both physical and mental, is crucial to overcoming these challenges and regaining your ideal shape. Gabigol is undoubtedly aware of this, and the medical department and technical committee are working together to create the ideal conditions for his full recovery.

Red-black team remains eight points behind leader Botafogo

0Last Sunday (15), Flamengo and Vasco drew 1-1, at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. The result, although frustrating for the red and blacks, who dominated much of the match, kept them eight points behind leader Botafogo.
Mais Querido entered the field imposing his pace and controlling the actions for most of the game. The red-black goal was scored by Gerson, who has been standing out in recent matches. However, CRF conceded the draw in the final minutes, which prevented a more significant approach to the classification table.
Even with the difference in points for Botafogo, the technical committee, led by Tite, devised a strategy focused on keeping the team competitive until the last rounds. According to information from the Coluna do Fla portal, the objective is to arrive "alive" in the fight for the title in the final five rounds. Matheus Bachi, assistant coach, believes that the recent good performance against Bahia and Vasco could be an indication that the team is on the right track to fight for the top again.
While trying to get closer to the leaders in the Brasileirão, Mengão is already preparing for the next challenge in the Libertadores. The team will face Peñarol, at Maracanã, in the quarterfinals of the continental tournament. The Rio team is looking for a good result at home before traveling to Uruguay for the second leg next week.
