Flamengo drew 1-1 with Vasco last Sunday (15), in a match valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. A reserve during the game, Gabigol only entered the field in the last seven minutes. Thus, the number 99 became Tite's third option, even with Pedro's absence.

In the final months of his contract with Flamengo, Gabigol saw Bruno Henrique and Carlinhos gain priority in Tite's attacking choices. After Pedro's serious injury, it was expected that the number 99 would have more chances on the field.

However, against Vasco, Bruno Henrique was chosen to be the starter. Subsequently, Tite replaced number 27 with Carlinhos in the second half. Gabigol, in turn, was only activated in the final minutes of the match, playing just seven minutes.

Gabigol x Carlinhos in Tite's opinion

During the press conference, Tite was questioned by journalists about the choice of Carlinhos instead of Gabigol against Vasco. The coach justified his decision, highlighting that the number 22 was decisive in important moments of the 2024 season.

“Training. Games. Specifically. Carlinhos was decisive against Bolívar (BOL), against Atlético-MG, with a goal, decisive against Vitória. That was why this option was made (instead of Gabigol). Added to this, Bruno Henrique was decisive against Bahia with a goal and an assist. We scored the goal with Carlinhos on the field. And Carlinhos' performance in the other games, that's what led me to decide”, declared the coach.

Final stretch of contract

It's important to remember that Gabigol may be living his last moments as a Flamengo player, as his contract with the club runs until December this year, and the expectation is that he will not there is renewal.

Despite this, Marcos Braz highlighted that the proposal is in the hands of Gabigol, who knows he can continue helping Flamengo if you accept the current terms. Rubro-Negro offered a 50% salary increase, but the new contract would only last one more year. This point has been a reason for disagreement, as the player felt devalued by the offer.

Even off the field, Flamengo continues to be remembered. In the third phase of the English Cup, this Tuesday (17), Fulham (ING) faced Preston (ING) wearing a red and black uniform, and sent a message to the Rio club.

Through social networks, Fulham published: “Back in black and red”, which in Portuguese means “Back to red and black”. In addition to the phrase, the English club shared a photo of striker Rodrigo Muniz wearing the uniform that refers to Flamengo. This generated a wave of comments from Mengão fans on the Fulham page. FLAMENGO FANS ASK TO EXCHANGE MUNIZ FOR CARLINHOS

After the publication, fans red-blacks "invaded" Fulham's social networks asking for Rodrigo Muniz's return. Many comments suggested replacing the striker with Carlinhos, another player loved by the fans.

Rodrigo Muniz, who began his career in football with Flamengo, was signed by Fulham in 2021 after good performances for the Rio club. Although he faced difficulties establishing himself in the English team and was loaned to Middlesbrough (ING), the young striker stood out after his return and is now one of the team's important players.

FULHAM ELIMINATED ENGLISH LEAGUE CUP

Despite using the colors red and black, Fulham were unable to overcome Preston. The game ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time, and the place was decided on penalties. However, the team of Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz ended up wasting the 17th penalty and was eliminated from the competition.
