Last Wednesday (29), Flamengo was defeated by Atlético MG, at Maracanã, and saw the possibility of fighting for the Brazilian Championship title go down the drain. Scorer of the first goal, Paulinho, striker of the Minas Gerais team, made a point of praising the confrontation with Mais Querido.

“It’s always (different, winning). I caught the era of Eurico Miranda, Roberto Dinamite. He (Eurico) always communicated very well to us that the game with Flamengo is a classic in itself”, declared Paulinho, Atlético-MG striker, who was revealed in Vasco's youth categories.

The former Vasco was the one who opened the scoring for the Minas Gerais team against Flamengo. On that occasion, Paulinho found the net ten minutes into the first half. At 2' and 36' of the second half, Edenílson and Rubens, respectively, scored the other two goals that declared Atlético MG's victory.

FLAMENGO'S SITUATION IN THE BRAZILIAN AND NEXT CONFRONTATION

With the defeat to Atlético MG, Flamengo left the fight for the Brazilian Championship title, saw the team from Minas Gerais and Botafogo overtake them in the league table and saw Palmeiras consolidate its leadership. Therefore, Mais Querido now occupies fourth place, with 63 points.

Out of the fight for the Brazilian Championship title, Flamengo will play next Sunday (03), the penultimate game of the season, and will have Erick Pulgar back. Now, Rubro Negro focuses on remaining in the G-4 to win a direct place in the Libertadores group stage. The game will be against Cuiabá, at Maracanã, in a match valid for the 37th round

Owning the assist for Gerson's goal in the draw with Vasco, last Sunday, Arrascaeta is approaching a historic milestone in the Brazilian Championship. With the assist he provided, the Uruguayan equaled Dudu and is just nine passes behind Marcelinho Carioca, potentially becoming the greatest assist in the history of the competition.

With 68 assists, Arrascaeta is ahead of names like Scarpa , Everton Ribeiro and Zico in statistics. Playing in Brazilian football since 2015, when he arrived at Cruzeiro, the midfielder has already played 218 matches in the Brazilian Championship, 50 of which were assists with the Flamengo shirt. b>

Arrascaeta stands out not only for his assists, but also for his goals. With 55 goals scored, 36 with the Flamengo shirt, the Uruguayan has remained among the best players in the championship since his debut at Cruzeiro.

Champion in 2019 and 2020, the midfielder has been in three of the last five “ideal teams” in the championship. He is currently the third foreigner with the most goals in Brazilian football this century, with 113 goals, behind only Cano and Paolo Guerrero.
