The U-15 and U-17 Guanabara Cup began for Flamengo this Saturday (3) with a mixed feeling. While the younger category beat Volta Redonda 1-0, being represented mostly by athletes from the 2010 generation, in addition to the U14 coaching staff, the older ones were not so lucky. Also formed by athletes and committees from the category below, the Garotos do Ninho were beaten 3-1, in a game with controversial refereeing.
First, it was the U15s who entered the field, at 11am, in the CT of Volta Redonda. Even playing against an older team, Garotos do Ninho were not intimidated and controlled the game well through possession. However, the last pass wasn't connecting and the opposing goalkeeper didn't have much trouble in the first half. As well as goalkeeper Vinicius, who had good support from the defense and did not suffer any scares.
In the final stage, coach Thiago de Camillis, who made his debut in charge of Flamengo's youth team, promoted changes that made the team faster. Thus, the local team's defensive structure began to dismantle and opportunities began to appear for striker Leonardo, who stopped twice at the opposing goalkeeper.
The goal only came in stoppage time, at 41' with José Eduardo . The striker received it from Nathan Ribeiro inside the area and had the calm to score the winning goal.

Striker Bill, featured for Flamengo in the Copinha at score two goals against EC São Bernardo in the last round of the group stage, does not hide his passion for the club. A red-black fan since childhood, the 18-year-old spoke about his relationship with Mais Querido, comparisons with stars revealed at Ninho do Urubu and the dreams he seeks to fulfill with Manto Sagrado.
With a contract valid until the end of 2026 and a termination fine set at R$ 300 million, Bill revealed, in an interview with ESPN, his pride in be compared to names like Vini Jr. and Lucas Paquetá, two former Flamengo players who shine in world football . "This proposal (from PSV) came when I was just 15 years old. But it was my decision to stay because I have the dream of playing professionally for my team. heartand I'm working hard to make this a reality," he declared.
Dream realized at the Copinha
Playing in his first edition of the Copinha, Bill highlighted the importance of the tournament in his career. For the striker, playing in the biggest youth competition in the world, especially for Flamengo, is a dream come true. "Playing the Copinha is like making a dream come true. Since I was a child, I've always wanted to compete in this competition, even more so for my favorite team. It's an honor. If we continue working with the same focus and motivation, we have a chance to fightfor the title", said the striker.
Regarding the decisive goals against EC São Bernardo, which guaranteed Flamengo in the next phase, Bill did not hide his emotion: "I always dreamed of this moment, being able to score a goal in the Copinha. And I was able to do this for Flamengo, which, as I said, is my favorite team."
Next challenge
With Bill on the field, Flamengo will face Bragantino this Monday (13), at < b>9:30 pm, in Mogi das Cruzes. The match, valid for the knockout stage, will be decisive to guarantee classification for the round of 16 of the Copinha.
