The U-15 and U-17 Guanabara Cup began for Flamengo this Saturday (3) with a mixed feeling. While the younger category beat Volta Redonda 1-0, being represented mostly by athletes from the 2010 generation, in addition to the U14 coaching staff, the older ones were not so lucky. Also formed by athletes and committees from the category below, the Garotos do Ninho were beaten 3-1, in a game with controversial refereeing.

First, it was the U15s who entered the field, at 11am, in the CT of Volta Redonda. Even playing against an older team, Garotos do Ninho were not intimidated and controlled the game well through possession. However, the last pass wasn't connecting and the opposing goalkeeper didn't have much trouble in the first half. As well as goalkeeper Vinicius, who had good support from the defense and did not suffer any scares.

In the final stage, coach Thiago de Camillis, who made his debut in charge of Flamengo's youth team, promoted changes that made the team faster. Thus, the local team's defensive structure began to dismantle and opportunities began to appear for striker Leonardo, who stopped twice at the opposing goalkeeper.

The goal only came in stoppage time, at 41' with José Eduardo . The striker received it from Nathan Ribeiro inside the area and had the calm to score the winning goal.

Lineup:

Vinicius; Nathan Ribeiro, Lucas Cecconi, Natã, Rafael; Vitor Hugo Cardoso, Thauan, Davi Fraga (Carlos Eduardo); Guilherme Queiroz (José Eduardo), Marcos Pierre (Antônio Victor) and Leonardo. Coach Thiago de Camillis.

Yellow card: Antônio Victor.

Under-17 loses in debut with Under-16 on the field

< Then, the team led by Vinicius Durante took to the field against Volta Redonda. Due to the heat and dry weather, the ball possession strategy to control the match and look for opportunities was used. However, the first goal conceded destabilized the team. After assistance on the field and the athlete being removed from the pitch, the referee restarted the match and authorized the return of the home team's player precisely on the side where Flamengo was building the play. The opponent stole the ball and played for his teammate to open the score. Before the technical stoppage, Volta Redonda scored the second in an effective loss of pressure.

Coach Rubro-Negro spoke with the team and the team came back better. The best chances appear on the left side with Davi Waisman and Ryan Pablo. In the middle of the second half, in a cross, the attacker was pushed and brought down in the area, but the penalty was ignored by the referee. This didn't faze Mengão, who continued in search of a draw. In another play by the duo mentioned above, Fla's first came out. Davi arrived from the left, hit hard and Ryan took advantage of the rebound to reduce it.

The chances of a draw continued to appear for Mengão, who continued to build on the left. Again on that side, in a cross, the ball hit the opposing defender's hand, but the referee signaled a corner. Near the end, Volta Redonda had a penalty awarded, also after a push inside the Rubro-Negra area, and did not waste the opportunity, finishing 3-1. The Under-15 and Under-17 will return to the field next Saturday, against Bangu, in the 2nd round in Gávea.

Lineup:

Dudu; Heitor, Yago Cardoso, Levy, Fabio Henrique; Lucas Falcone, Enzo, Rafinha; Davi Waisman, Gabriel Amancio and Ryan Pablo. Coach: Vinicius Durante

As Meninas da Gávea didn't slow down and expanded in the 14th minute. Anna Luiza played the ball to Alice, who provided a beautiful light screen for Leane to reach with a cross: 14 to 0. Seven minutes later, Leane again entered the area alone and scored another hat-trick in the match: 15 to 0.

João Gomes and Lucas Paquetá, two players trained in the youth categories of Flamengo, are currently integrated into the Brazilian National Team. Both athletes, known as "Crias do Ninho", have stood out in their respective trajectories in Europe, and now train together under the command of the national team's technical committee.

João Gomes, who acts as midfielder , is one of the promises that emerged at Flamengo and today defends Wolverhampton Wanderers, popularly known as Wolves, in the Premier League. Since his arrival in England, João Gomes has shown constant evolution, both technically and tactically, gaining space in the squad and the trust of coach Gary O'Neil. His marking ability, intensity on the field and reading of the game were characteristics that caught the attention of the Brazilian National Team's technical committee, resulting in his call-up.

THE CLUB HAS PASSAGES FOR THE SELECTION

Lucas Paquetá, in turn, already has a more established career in European football. After leaving Flamengo, he spent time at Milan, where he had a complicated adaptation, but soon found his football again at Lyon, in France. Currently, Paquetá is one of the main players at West Ham United, also in the Premier League, where he has established himself as the team's number 10. His creative style of play, ability to organize the midfield and skill in decisive plays made him a key player in both his club and the Brazilian national team.

Paquetá's call-up to the national team, where he also wearing the number 10 shirt, reinforces his importance in coach Fernando Diniz's scheme. Paquetá has been one of the most used players in Brazil's recent matches, and his presence on the field has been fundamental to the team's offensive construction. His rapport with other players in the team, especially with Neymar, is one of the strengths that the coaching staff intends to explore during the next games.
