Fundamental for development in the first months of life, breast milk is considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the “golden food”, giving rise to Golden August, which encourages breastfeeding. Thus, to reinforce support for the campaign, the Red-Black soccer player Sole Jaimes, who is four months pregnant, visited, last Tuesday (15), the Mariska Ribeiro Municipal Hospital, a reference in women's and maternal health -infant, in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. As part of the August Dourado program of activities, the athlete received guidance on the breastfeeding process, the importance of breast milk in child development and the father's role in this process.

“I was very grateful to have participated in this action. I am also very happy for this new moment in my life, the motherhood that I am beginning to experience. I learned a lot that afternoon and I was happy with the way I was received. It is very good to know that there are public hospitals with such quality and that can help so many people”, said Sole Jaimes.

Accompanying the player, the mascots Binho and Urubão were also present on this visit, who took pictures, distributed gifts and gifted pregnant women and mothers with licensed Flamengo products aimed at early childhood.

“Encouraging breastfeeding is among our main missions as a public health unit, a reference in women's health and maternity. We know how precious and fundamental breastmilk is for babies, it saves lives. For this reason, expressions of support for this cause, such as the visit of the Clube de Regatas de Flamengo team, reinforcing the Golden August campaign, are very important and more than welcome”, celebrated the general director of Hospital Mariska Ribeiro , Vivian Folly. She also recalled that the newly opened milk bank in the unit is open for lactating women who want to make donations. The unit has 121 beds and Neonatal ICU. On average, 2,000 emergency consultations are carried out every month, 320 deliveries and 700 high-risk prenatal consultations are carried out.

As part of the proposal to humanize the Hospital da Mulher, Sole Jaimes received a beautiful painting gestational, which allowed you to understand how your baby is positioned inside your belly.
