Amazonas announced a significant change in its coaching staff this weekend. On Saturday (19), the board confirmed the departure of Eduardo Barros, a coach who failed to achieve good results in the initial rounds of the Brazilian Championship Series B. In his place, the club opted for an internal solution: Ibson, a former midfielder revealed by Flamengo, will now be responsible for leading the team on an interim basis.
The change was motivated by the underwhelming performance in the first matches of the national competition. Unable to secure a winning streak, Amazonas saw the need to seek a new direction in the technical command. With Barros' dismissal made official, the choice for Ibson came about due to the professional's closeness to the squad and because he already knew the club's routine.
Before being promoted to the position of interim coach, Ibson was part of the permanent coaching staff of Amazonas. As an employee of the club, he already actively participated in the preparation of the athletes . With the departure of the previous coach, it was natural for the board to bet on continuity, putting in a name that already experienced the day-to-day life of the squad and knows the main needs of the team.
The new stage of Ibson 's career officially began on Saturday, when he led his first training session with the team. The activity focused on technical and tactical adjustments, as well as psychological preparation for the next match. This Sunday (20), the former player returned to the field with the athletes for another session, this time focusing on defining the starting team.
The team's closest match will be this Monday (21), against Avaí, for Série B. The game will take place at Arena da Amazônia, and Ibson will have the mission of leading the team to an immediate response on the field. With little time to prepare, the interim coach tries to implement specific adjustments and bring more stability to the team.
