0Midfielder Eduardo, one of Botafogo's main highlights, which currently leads the Brazilian Championship, addressed the fluctuation that marked the start of the second round for Alvinegro. The Rio club suffered three consecutive defeats in the competition. The veteran player highlighted that this situation is normal in such a long and challenging championship, considering the Brasileirão as one of the most difficult competitions in the world.
He mentioned that practically all clubs went through moments of fluctuation, with the exception of Flamengo, who was Brazilian champion in 2019, and did not face similar situations. That year, the team led by JJ scored more than 90 points in the national tournament and opened up a large lead over second place.
"With these defeats and draws, we were upset with this situation. However, these are fluctuations that are normal in a long and difficult championship. I think it is the most difficult tournament in the world. Every weekend is quarry. Practically all clubs went through this, apart from Flamengo in 2019. So we understand this situation", he said in an interview with ESPN.
Eduardo's statement suggests that difficulties and upheavals are part of the competitive scenario of the Brazilian Championship and that it is necessary to deal with these fluctuations throughout the season. The player emphasizes that consistency is a challenge in a competition as competitive and unpredictable as the Brasileirão.
Botafogo will not be on the field in the middle of this week for the 29th round of the Brasileirão. Their match against Fortaleza, at Castelão, was postponed. Alvinegro's next match will be against Cuiabá, this Sunday, at Nilton Santos.
